2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: FEB 10, 2009 Served in the Blue Boar Maldon (I suppose its the brewery tap!)
Direct fom the cask by tap.
I have re rated this beer originally I gave it a 3.4 BUT in the last few months it has lost its grapefruit finish only to be replaced with a strange bitter/acidity.
The appearance has changed too, its not a clear gold, but cloudy now

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask (gravity dispense) at London Drinker Beer Festival (Friday session), March 2006. Straw colour. Not the most zesty or assertive of golden ales but there are touches of citrus in the mix. But there’s also a more robust, rustic, traditional UK hop presence as well. Generally quite subtle and easy-drinking, with modest bitterness. A very pleasant, well-tempered beer.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A hazy straw yellow coloured beer with a weak head. A light smokey hop nose, with a little touch of malt. The taste is dry, malty and very smokey, like a Scottish Islands malt whisky! the finish id dry and smokey. (Cask - @ The Fox & Hounds Summer Beer Festival 2006, Heacham, Norfolk.).

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask@Chelmsford Beer festival. Quite an earthy golden ale, with some sweet palae malt characters and a light hint of citric hops in the finish. Easy drinking, but a little boring.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Chelmsford BF. A light straw coloured beer. The aroma is dry with a little sulfer. The taste is more of the same. This was all I could really write but I was really enjoying drinking it. It just seemed a tasty, somewhat odd beer and it went down a treat.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask conditioned Chelmsford beer festival, 2006. Golden. A touch of varnish and a hit of hops. Quite chemical but the citric hop character helps it out.
