I like bitters. I think they are a very under-rated style. This one is freshly and tastefully malty, like it should be. It definitely tastes British.

Draft at bier markt Montreal. Pours dark Amber with a nice thick white head. Aromas of grains and some sweetness. Taste is mild cereal, sweet grains and a bit of fruitiness. Smooth somewhat creamy and low carbonation.

Pours a clear dark amber topped about a finger of fizzy/creamy tanned head showing good retention and leaving some spotted lacing on the the rim. The nose is nutty and roasted with a sweet note of corn syrup. The taste is grainy, roasted malts. Little honey, medium bitter and body. The brew is quite mineral but remains easy to drink. Earthy hops lead the finish with the mineral element. Cheers!

On tap at le projet. Clear amber-copper pour with thin straw foam. Aroma is quite leafy, peppery, light caramel, rye, mild citrus notes. Taste is malty but not sweet, light caramel, toasted grain with a bitter finish. Palate is light bodied with med carbonation. Good.

Second bitter of the night. Purchased at Métro Plus in St-Jerome, QC. Pours a clean golden colour with a slight amber hue and very limited particles. Huge frothy warm cap, long lasting with fluffy-bubbly lacing. Caramel malt aromas with some hops and even notes of hay. The hops are mild, but keeps the sweetness away from the caramel malts. Again, grassy hay notes. Heavy carbonation, good bitterness. Goes down well and better than the Le Corsaire Bristol bitter I just had.

Can bought at the local IGA. Poured a nice orange-amber colour, with a thin off-white head that dissipated quickly with little to no lacing left on the glass. Medium carbonation.Slightly sweet and malty, but with an odd bitterness that I’m not used to in this style - hard to describe, but it almost seemed like an APA/IPA hoppiness imposed over a weak Irish ale. Weird beer, not as appealing as something like the Double Diamond of old or as drinkable as a typical Yorkshire bitter. This was my second 4-pack, don’t think I’ll be buying a 3rd.
