Can. Amber gold pour. Thick head. The aroma is lightly earthy. Some light spice and a bit of white pepper as well. A nice balance of malt and hoppiness. It’s slightly fruity and a bit peppery. As it warms up you get more fruit and it comes together pretty nicely. A fairly nice bitter.

Fiche technique Style: BitterFormat: 473 mlTaux d?alcool : 5%IBU: 35

I had this a few months back and remember it being better (though not much. Pours a nice amber with a bit of head off-white head that faded faster than my faith in humanity when Jersey Shore became a hit. Nose is caramel, earth, a tiny bit of spice. Taste is sweet caramel malt, a bit of pepper, and dry finish that’s...well, weird. The aftertaste is kind of like biting into a muffin and getting an unmixed chunk of baking powder, though not quite as unpleasant. It’s ok stuff, but not great, and not really worth the price (though by Quebec beer standards it’s pretty cheap at $2.75/500ml can).

Can bought at the local IGA. Poured a nice orange-amber colour, with a thin off-white head that dissipated quickly with little to no lacing left on the glass. Medium carbonation.Slightly sweet and malty, but with an odd bitterness that I’m not used to in this style - hard to describe, but it almost seemed like an APA/IPA hoppiness imposed over a weak Irish ale. Weird beer, not as appealing as something like the Double Diamond of old or as drinkable as a typical Yorkshire bitter. This was my second 4-pack, don’t think I’ll be buying a 3rd.

On tap at le projet. Clear amber-copper pour with thin straw foam. Aroma is quite leafy, peppery, light caramel, rye, mild citrus notes. Taste is malty but not sweet, light caramel, toasted grain with a bitter finish. Palate is light bodied with med carbonation. Good.

Can: Poured a clear light brown color ale with a small foamy head with good retention with light lacing. Aroma of light dry bitter caramel malt notes. Taste is quite dry and slightly bitter with some dry caramel malt. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Well brewed to style with easy drinking characteristics.

En fût au Gainsbourg. Couleur brune, assez claire. Nez caramel, grains. En bouche, malt caramel, un peu d’herbe, toffee. Un peu mince mais se boit très bien, pas de grand défaut.

Second bitter of the night. Purchased at Métro Plus in St-Jerome, QC. Pours a clean golden colour with a slight amber hue and very limited particles. Huge frothy warm cap, long lasting with fluffy-bubbly lacing. Caramel malt aromas with some hops and even notes of hay. The hops are mild, but keeps the sweetness away from the caramel malts. Again, grassy hay notes. Heavy carbonation, good bitterness. Goes down well and better than the Le Corsaire Bristol bitter I just had.

Depanneur Peluso, Montreal can: Pours a light brownish amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is caramel, earthy, toffee, with some light hops. Taste is slightly bitter. Earthy. Not a bad bitter, but there ain’t much special stuff going on with this one here.
