Commercial Description:
Farnum Hill Extra Dry Still Pale gold, radically dry, aromatic, fruity, earthy, even hormonal, with a palate-cleansing balance of astringency and acid. Intriguing with exotic foods, a wakeup for the taste buds. Alcohol 7.5% by volume, full cork closure, 750 ml. bottle.

Bottle. Pours a pale golden hue. Aroma of fresh apples. Flavor is bittersweet. Earthy, yes, with nice apple notes abounding. The finish is crisp with just a bit of tartness. The apple flavor is highly detectable in the aftertaste. The stillness and almost undetectable alcohol make this cider seem almost juice-like. Quite good.

I’ve had this in the cellar since about 2006. Lovely golden yellow. Interesting catty aroma, but without going all acidic and farmhouse-lambic. I’ve tasted a few dry white wines that had these aromas. Light body and dry, crisp finish with just a bit of alcohol that lingers on the tongue. Light acidity gives it some interesting depth and complexity. Great stuff!

Bottle. Aroma of candy-like green apple...not sure what else I’m supposed to say with these ciders. Flavor was at first intensely acidic, but calmed down for me to an enjoyable and refreshing mix of tart and sweet notes. I guess it was good!

Bottle from St. James Beverage. Pours a clear light yellow with no head. Aroma of sweet candied apple (almost as sweet as an ice cider). Light tartness but mostly sweet in the nose. Flavor is quite dry as the title would suggest with tart, sweet apple, some barnyard funkiness and oakiness. Overall this is tart, dry, and pleasant. 8/4/7/4/14 (3.7/5)

750 ml bottle from Co-Op in Hanover, NH. Straw coloured and completely still. Beautiful nose of freshly pressed apples, light apple skin aroma as well. Hay and straw along with a touch of honeyed sweetness. Light malic tartness on the nose as well as well as a faint funkiness. The flavour is quite dry and the palate is quite a bit thinner than the nose would have suggested. Light apple skin and a hint of tartness as well. Quite vineous. Soft drying apple skin tannins further dry this out. It’s nice, but the flavour is not quite up to the aromas promise.

750 ml bottle from the Beverage Warehouse in Winooski, VT, consumed around cellar temperature in a wine glass. Still, almost clear gold with quite faint bubbles and light yeast clouds in suspension....soft, slightly buttery, dry musty apple aroma, like last year’s fall apples well-kept and just starting to decay, tart acidity showing up with a second nosing....quite dry throughout though not bone-dry at all, light golden apple-white wine qualities, tart-to-sour at the finish and some barnyard funkiness subdued....elegant, subtle mouthfeel, a bit acidic and spicy in the aftertaste. Very nice and complex enough that I’ll likely try it again.

Tastes and looks just as the other extra dry, just lacking carbonation, obviously. Pleasant and well balanced.
