Commercial Description:
Golden, still, dry, redolent of muskmelon, orange peel, flowers, bittersweet apple, romance. Made from the temperamental Kingston Black apple, long treasured abroad as a single-variety cider fruit for its rare balance of tannin, sugar, and acid. Lovely on its own or as a flattering companion to food. Newly added to the wine lists of the following New York restaurants: Craft, Chanterelle, The Harrison, and Jean-Georges. PRODUCTION LIMITED TO 100 CASES, NEARLY SOLD OUT.

One of my favorite ciders -- have had approx. 10 bottles over the last 3 years. Pours like a cider, but tastes a bit like a lambic -- sour notes along the lines of a gueze.

bottle #425/502 2004 vintage Pale golden colour and completely still. Lightly burnished appearance. Lovely soft apple aroma, light pear fruitiness as well. Soft spiciness over a rich but light perfumey brettanomyces notes. The flavour is similar, quite dry but with soft tannins that adds a sensation of residual sweetness. Soft tannic flavour throughout, but as in the aroma, they are very soft and inviting. A touch of peppery alcohol on the finish. Light leathery character on the back along with some light tartness. Leans to the dry and perfumey side of ciders. Odd, but tasty, French/English hybrid. Still, I’m not complaining.

Clear pear colored, still. Original fruit salad nose with global focus around pears and peaches. Expressive yet gentle with fruit skins taking the lead over fruit flesh and juiciness. Kinda powdery mouthfeel, still, dry and medium bodied. The tartness stays at an adequate level, akin to a good white wine, its fruitiness indeed feels very vinous and the reasonable dryness procures a good balance.

Very leafy, green apple, bitter appleskin aroma with some notes of vanilla. Hazy deep golden body is very still and winelike and leaves some legs on the glass. Lightly tart and sour appleskin flavour with some vestiges of maple brown sugar. Very dry and well attenuated. Bottle sampled at Barry’s housewarming tasting.

Pours a clear golden color. Aroma and flavor of dry apples. It’s ok, a very standard cider with nothing too exciting or wild.

Liquorous apple and white grape sweetness lives in a frail, complacent body...A few blades of grass finish up dry, and meet light sourness...Interesting, but not captivating...

750 ml bottle, #756 of 1031 (2003 vintage) shared with MartinT, tiggmtl, Rastacouere, beerbuzzmontreal and Yowie. Pours a still, oily amber, with slight coating on the surface of the glass...sweet, apple-peach-vanilla nose, pleasant but unremarkable...the body is more interesting, with a nice sweet-sour/tart balance, very much a fresh skin flavor...light but somewhat cloying mouthfeel. This is a nice middle-of-the-road cider, wholly unremarkable, not at all worth the $19 it cost at Winooski Beverage.
