4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 CapFlu (3798) - Victoria, - APR 19, 2007
(750ml bottle) CW3 gathering in Victoria. Courtesy of Oakes and Joe McPhee. Lite yellow colour with high carbonation. Tart, clean, tonic, dry grape nose. Flavour of a mildly sweet white wine. Good apple base with a delicious grape mid-palate. Mildly dry wine finish. One of the finest non-iced ciders I’ve tried. Difficult to achieve this level, balance and complexity.

Bottle @ home. Filtered, clear, golden orange appearance with no head. Slightly toasty, apple pulpy, mildly dry, vinous aroma. Lightly sour, sweet, toasty apple flavor with a mild to moderately finish. Slightly vinous. Kind of a weird toasty flavor.

(Notes)
On tap @ R&H. Served in a long-stem goblet.
Light, but nearly chardonnay in color. Still, except for a ripple here & there.
Smell is watered down white wine with tart apples & a touch of bubblegum.
Taste is of oxidized white wine, soft florals, tart green apple skins & a wincing astringency. Slightly metallic. Unbashful alcohol. Light on the wood tannins. Delicate carbonation. Dry, chalky finish.
Served too cold & too dry for me anyway.

From Knightly. Ok, so I bought this one for my wife which she’s consuming right now, but thought I’d pour myself a little to see what it’s about. The pour is a golden color... looks like a typical cider to me. This smells like it’s got a lot of white wine character. To be honest, it smells pretty damn good. The flavor offers plenty of sweet but also tart apple, some wood, as well as a citrusy-lemon note. Slightly dry in the finish. As far as ciders go, this one is quite good.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 auerbrau (2668) - Peace Dale, Rhode Island, USA - SEP 17, 2010
750mL Bottle. Leggy headless pour, with a bit of viscosity and a golden hue. Aroma is a light and of distant apple jack. Overall, flavors are lighter than many other quality ciders. Warmer and more alcoholic than I expect. Lacking tight acidity, balancing skin-based astringency, and complex apple flavor. More sugar-based and plain.

On tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours a clear straw yellow with a medium sized white head that vanishes almost immediately. Dry apple, little bit of champagne yeast, somewhat sweet fruit. Thin, somewhat watery. Little bit of a dry hay note, rather empty overall. Dried out a bit too much.
