This brownish beer is mild and smooth. It has more depth than expected and has a good aftertaste. I have not had so many mild ales and this was quite new to me.

Bottle shared by ippopotamo36 (thanks Alberto!). Pours amber with a minimal off-white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, butter, biscuits, burnt sugar. Flavour is sweet, unbalanced, unpleasing. Light body, medium carbonation. Almost undrinkable.

At the multi-national tasting held in Rome-Italy on 29/08/2015 (Jow, Mortlach, ippopotamo36 and Marco). Bottle courtesy of Sylvan, thank you. Pours caramel clear color, some small head. Nose: burnt brown sugar, caramel far away. Mouth: too frizzy in my opinion, not a real taste but a confusing caos of caramel flaws.

Stable creamy foam. The aroma is caramel malt and light fruit. Tastes slightly burned malt and caramel. The hops are soft and gentle. Lovely mild ale with a clear idea to the UK breweries. Mouthwatering and delicate.

1) Tap, Mdina, Malta. Bright bronze streaming steadily with a dispersing white cap. Aroma of not much, raffia table mat again, pine cone. Better flavour with appreciable flecks of boiled sugar citrus, dunked English biscuit, almost pecan afters, toffee popcorn, red berry boiled sweets. Pleasant enough drab bronze bitter with suspicions of flavour. 2) Can. Mad fizzing copper moussed with white. Rusty nail and butter biscuit aroma with glue and dried grass as it warms. Again boiled sweet caramel, Werthers, rust, hint of Tunes, a suspicion of citrus. Maybe it was Blue Label in Mdina after all. Actually not bad if anachronistic, drably old school English and ill suited to quaffing in these climes. 435310.

Bottle shared at Leighton’s place. 25/08/2015. Thanks to Paul. Canned miles FTW. Deep golden / orange coloured pour with a lasting thin white head. Aroma is sweet raisin, dried fruit, toffee apple, paper. Flavour is composed of nutty, toffee malts, paper, light oxidisaed, raisin and dried apple. Palate is semi sweet, thin, papery, dry finish. Lingering metal and jammy fruits.

Can share at Leighton’s. Many thanks to Paul and Lorna for this Maltese pale mild - it’s not every day you try one of those. Hazy dark orange, still, small dense foamy off-white head, full lacing. Aroma is toffee, burnt sugars, some mint and background orange. Body is light, spritzy carbonation, slightly foamy. Taste is light cardboard malts, pale grains, sodawater with a light finish. A great one to try, but not a great one to drink ... if that makes sense.
