3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours dark brown, but almost black with a slight reddish hue. Foamy tan head. Aroma was mildly sweet with chocolate and weak coffee. Thin mouthfeel. Chocolate, light caramel, milk, and nuts on the tongue. Boring finish. Not my favorite style, but it’s drinkable.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours an opaque black with dark brown edges and a thin, wispy coating of tan head. Sweet sugary aroma has some toasty milk chocolate notes and noble hoppiness. Body starts with some sweet molasses and unfermented sugars along with some fizzy carbonation toward a slightly more bitter and drier finish. An interesting brew, but too one-sided.

Many thanks to slob for this unexpected bonus. Pours a dark brown with a light brown head. Smells of nuts, some roasted malt, sweet spices. Taste is of malt, some chocolate, soy sauce, earthy hops. Unusual and different. Thanks for the bonus!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
What a wonderful looking pour. Volumes of tan to brown sea foam as a head. Just noticed that there maybe a recipe change as it is now listed as 3.8% verses all my other sources (including RB) indicating 3.4%. I proceed. A very thick dark brown verses black in color. Has a sweet grain to near wort-like aroma. Hints of herbal hops. Smooth on the palate, that nearly makes it boring. Sweet malt flavors with just a hint of the lactose in the linger. Very drinkable and on the verge of - again being boring.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle sample at Union Beer Trade Tasting, NYC. Woo hoo, a new country! Deep ruby-brown with a small, dark tan head that leaves some nice lacing. Aroma is odd - slightly herbal and candyish with some sour tinges. Flavour of a creamy chocolate malted, with some mild roasted/nutty notes in the finish. Pretty decent stuff.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle (GBBF 2006): Liquorice with very sweet lollies. Very sugary with a milky feel. Black with a short tan head. I really don’t like lacto stouts.

Bottled. GBBF. A black coloured beer with a slightly frothy coffee head. The aroma is like red candy licquorice: very sweet and attempting to be grown up. The taste is very sweet and lactic. More red licquorice. Although the beer is a bit dumbed down and over sweet, it is quite satisfying and nice enough to drink
