imdownthepub (3817), Banbury, Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England May 12, 2008 Bottle, filtered, 285ml, many thanks Nige. Dark brown with tan head. I spent 2 weeks on Malta and never found this, a friend bought it back from the airport!. Thin and sweet dark beer, with some roasted notes, toffee, butterscotch in the background, not much else really. Probably the best of the Farsons beers though.
MrBunn (774), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 3, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a fluffy brown head and aromas of cola, chocolate and milk. Flavor is a ho-hum mix of the aforementioned. I can’t get over the cola-like taste here... Maybe it’s time for bed or maybe it’s actually there. Either way... strange. highlandlad (1164), Sydney, Australia Jul 3, 2008 A new country rating. Come on down Malta. This sweet milk stout is as mild-mannered as Clark Kent, but without the secret identity. There’s less going on here than meets the eye. It’s a fair-looking brew, Guinness black with a thick tan head. Thin aroma of chocolate milk and burnt sugars. Sweet but insubstantial, promising little. Medium bodied and smooth. What little flavour there is is as mild as the aroma. Sweet with soft dark malts and negligible bitterness. Some Coca-Cola sugars and very milky chocolate. Very easy drinking but there’s not enough here to form an attachment. (330ml bottle courtesy of Bridge - thanks amigo. BB April 2008) azlondon (456), Greater London, England Jul 1, 2008 Appearance: Very dark brown, almost black. Little bit of dark head.
Aroma: Dark malt and actually milk. Chocolate?
Taste: Some malt, sweet. Disappointing.
Info: 330ml bottle, 12/5-2007, 169/500 troopie (429), USA Jun 27, 2008 Bottle. Poured deep black with thin lasting tan head. Aroma of flat milk.. Flavour of flat milk and ash, very little malt. Thin unsatisfying ashey finish. Not a stout I’d care to repeat. RCL (942), Boston, Massachusetts, USA Jun 16, 2008 Not so good. Not really sweet, not really stout. Thin mouthfeel and thin flavor. I wouldn’t call the flavor ash, rather, paper which has been browned by heat but stopped short of burning.
