(RBESG 2007, Glasgow. Bottle) Amber color, offwhite head. Malty aroma. Ok malty flavor but with alittle too much alcohol.

A Mes rate: Bottle at RBESG. Translucent chestnut colour with a pretty well behaved head. Tasty and clean with plenty of alcohol showing but it really works unlike a lot of German bottled beers. Malty and fruity with some delicate hoppage way down underneath. Luxurious mouthfeel. Very good stuff.

Draft. A hazy amber-brown beer with a thick beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of alcohol and berries. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of berries, and lighter notes of alcohol. Nice

Bottle from ? Aroma hits you with sweet malts, a bit buttery and notable sweetcorn. Taste is similar again very noteable corn. Tries it best to be balanced and alcohol is very well hidden.

On tap drunk it in Maastricht. A nice ballanced beer. With a taste of alcohol and roasted malts

Papsoe (25074) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - NOV 17, 2006
(On tap) Clear, orangey brown with a small, off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt and alcohol. Very full-bodied with roasted malt notes and a touch of caramel. A very alcoholic finish with some brutal bitterness. Way too much alcohol that even the solid body cannot sustain making this a not so harmonious Bock. 081106

Bottled. An amber coloured beer with no head or lacing. The aroma is sweet and malty with caramel brown sugar notes. The taste is sweet and malty with some bready malts and a good depth of nuttiness. Some alcohol warmth. A nice beer but there are many much better doppelbocks.

pivnizub (9163) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - MAR 20, 2006
Bottle (bought at the brew-pub 11/05): Light amber coloured, thin but stable, lacing off-white head, hazy; sweetish, alcoholic (brandy-like) and fruity (raisins) nose; sweet alcoholic flavour with a touch of bitterness, medium-bodied; a bit dryer in the finish with some hoppiness coming later. Not bad, quite well made, quite easily drinkable; only the alcohol could be better hidden.....

Bottled. Clear nut brown, firm, creamy head. Deep buttery malt aroma with notes of spun sugar. Sweet with wonderfully soft mouthfeel anf fantastic buttery malt flavours. There’s caramel, raisins on top of the malt simmers some light grassy hops, but its the vast malt character that drives the beer. If it’s something that keeps this beer from achieving perfection it’s the sweetness.

Bottle. Malty aroma. Copper colour, stable head. Flavour is malty and sweet, not that interesting. I do not really know what all the fuss is about. Should be able to do better with 8.5%.
