This is just an outstanding, outstanding pils. you could tell it was as fresh as it possibly could be. It is hoppy and delicious, the best Pils I have ever had.

Bottle: Pale golden, mid-sized firm, lasting head, a bit hazy; very shy nose: traces of hops, malts and cardboard too; very soft sweetish start;quite full bodied; nearly no aromatic hops detectable in the soft, sweetish-malty finish; more a quite good Hell than a true Pils........

500ml vom Fass at the brewpub – and a few more during our stay at the guesthouse. Chalk white head disappearing over a crystal clear golden coloured body. Herbal hops and pale malty smell. Mid-sweet pale malty flavours mixed with noble bitter hops towards the ending. Fine bodied. Clean and refreshing. Decent pils (first drink on a trip to Bamberg 09.10.2014).

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a medium-sized, lacey foamy white head. Fresh herbal, slightly lemony hops aroma with a moderate malty sweetness. Sweet-bitter flavour, light bodied, crispy on the tongue. Soft grainy malty taste with fruity and herbal hoppy accents; moderately dry, sweet and slightly bitter malt-accented finish with a delicate but also aromatic hops character (25.02.08).

bottle. Clear pale yellow. White head. Malty background with nice hoppy flavours. Unspectacular but quite decent.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2014 Draft at the brewery in Bamberg. Clear gold. Nose is yeast, grain, corn. Crisp, grassy, drying. Noble hops. A decent pils that doesn’t do much other than quench thirst.

(6/31/08) Draught at the brewpub in Bamberg. Clear golden. Aroma has some malt, quite a bit of grassy hops and butterscotch. Sweetish flavor with some butterscotch hints and a bitter hoppy finish. Medium-bodied.

MartinT (8619) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 24, 2006
UPDATED: OCT 16, 2014 Impressions from the schwemm:
-A ring of foam stands above the transparent golden.
-Dry hay and herbal supporting hops make up most of the flavor profile.
-Very clean and lean-bodied, very drinkable.
-Aroma and flavor are consequential, no surprises here.
-Herbal hop bitterness lingers amicably.

On tap a couple of times at the brewery.

Draught Fully celar gold; small, very fast dwindling transparant white head. Sweet, very malty nose, nearly honey-ish. Estery! Dry-opening Pilsner with (very) far away hops, discreetly German. Light but with a certain grist-body. Feels more bodied than I estimate it probably. Not very outstanding. Good but nowhere outstanding. Less hoppy character than the Lager!

Cycled into town (Bamberg) from our campsite just outside at Bug 17-06-10 had this at the site of the recently closed local Maisel’s brewery. Pours clean gold in colour with a white head that departs swiftly. Some sweetness in mouth a little thin on first taste but its ok. A6 A4 T6 P4 Ov12 3.2
