I found a humorous in Bamberg that when I asked for a Helles they actually asked pils, lager, or weizen. This one is a solid Lager.

500 mL draught at Fassla in Bamberg. Darkish blond with lots of head at the start, but it soon disappears. Smells of malt, and a little of pilsner. Distinctive long tankard. Its alright, a plain lager, but it least it was a local brew.

Draught at brewery tap, Bamberg. Golden, small to average and fully diminishing head. Light to moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, some grassy hoppyness. Body is light, malty – lightly grainy and lightly sweetish flavor, some grassy hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, some hoppyness. Lightly sweetish lager, that’s it.

A little bit dark golden, perhaps just a slight red color. Not very interesting smell, mostly yeasty. Really good with nice mouth feeling. Taste is sweet and there is something sour. Aroma is mostly earthy, leather and some roast with malts.

Bottle. Bronze beer with a strongish head. The aroma is dry and gently roasted, the flavour is bitter, dry and yeasty. Overall a resaonable yeasty and dry beer.

Bottle at home. Aroma is spicy and a bit swampy, some malts and some grains. Flavor is watery, slightly hoppy, some spicy malts and quite clean. Not that good.

Orange-yellow color with medium-pored foam. The smell is slight fruity. The beginning part is fruity and spicy, with a slight bitter aftertaste.

Bottled. A bright bronze coloured beer with a tiny off-white head. a good malty German lager. Good grassy hops. No off-putting butter or vomit. Flowery notes too. A superior lager although it does become chewy afte a while.
