(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a clear amber golden with a small, white head. Light aroma of roasted malt. Rather solid body with distinct notes of roasted malt. Lightly alcoholic finish. Solid if not exactly thrilling German brew. Not really a Dunkel, but not a straight Bock either. 200606

Bottle (from Fassla): Amber, light carbonation with a white head. Caramel notes. Balanced creamy mouthfeel. Nice nutty malts, spicey hops. Suprisingly good!

MartinT (7677) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 24, 2006
UPDATED: MAY 27, 2006 Impressions from the schwemm:
-Frothy foam and clear reddish-brown hues adopt an icea tea look after but a few minutes.
-Like their Pils, this has an aqueous, überclean feel, which is ridiculously drinkable.
-Toffee and roastiness present simple ideas to the flavor spectrum.
-Charred meats subtly suggest depth in the nose.
-Flaky roasted malt bitterness rises in the back.
-The tiny bubbling and lean body are too slippery for my tastes.
-Everything’s so timid and watery, this is ultimately boring and appears to be brewed for the masses.

From the bottle at the brewery.

Otje (677) - Veendam, NETHERLANDS - APR 21, 2006
Premium lager? I would have guest it a dark lager or dunkel. apart from that it’s very drinkable. smells malty and caramelish(caramelmalt or rye) and sweet dark candy. tastes citrussy caramelish, spicy and malty. finishes sweet bitter, fruity and a little bit watery(not in taste). an O.K. brew.

UPDATED: OCT 22, 2006 Draught. Very dark chestnut colour, stable head. OK malty flavour, hint of anis. OK pepperiness and then it turns out to be just another German beer. 5 3 5 3 13
Bottle. Weak spicy aroma. roasted flavour, nicely bready. Full, creamy mouthfeel. 6 3 7 4 16

pivnizub (8722) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - OCT 12, 2005
Bottle (Vroni’s Bamberg): Amber to brown coloured, thin lacing head; sweetish malty nose, a touch of coffee and roasted malts, some fruitiness; soft texture, mild dry malty taste; also mild malty and only very shy bitter (chocolatey) finish; rather light bodied for a brew of 6% ABV. Well quaffable, though.....

JorisPPattyn (7771) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - SEP 20, 2005
Orange tinted light brown beer, small white head, fast gone, leaving faint lace. Sweet, liquorice-like nose, faintly nutty. Sweet, again nutty and bready flavours. Sweet, but not sugary, more milke or bread (malt) sugar, fading very slowly. Light bodied, but there is really some malt beefing up the MF. Good session beer, sweet but as it is not cloying it goes down well.

bierkoning (9999) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - SEP 17, 2005
Malty flavor with licorice and hints of slat and grapes. The aroma is not very outspoken, but the flavor is. Medium to full bodied. A hard hitter with a soft touch.

Indra (2591) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - NOV 1, 2004
On draught at Fässla. Freshly-picked hop aroma, leafy, green and lightly citric, with a moderate amount of sweet, caramel-toffee malts. Deep reddish copper color, clear, with a fine creamy head. Flavor profile is likewise surprisingly dominated by hops, flavorful and juicy, with the maltiness providing a very nice balance, sweet and bodifying but certainly not overly so. Lingering, light sugary sweetness late. The mouthfeel is lively, body is medium-full. Seemed somehow reminsicent of a dark German IPA(?). A nice change of pace, though, to be sure, and quite intriguing. My batch received a bit more hops than some others’ here, it would seem.

duff (5484) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - OCT 24, 2004
Bottle. Has that typical German doughy bready malt flavour, some nutty characters. Pretty subtle and, yes, its not the most exciting beer, but it does its job well.
