fiulijn (15371) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 25, 2011
Bottle from Markgrafen, Bamberg
Dark chestnut color, clean; generous, compact head. Aroma of caramel, paper, cereals, light vanilla (not impressive). Correct body; the mild flavor of dark caramel is dry and quite poor; the bitterness is low and some comes from the roasted malt. The final is empty from any emotion. Boring.

larsga (6323) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUN 18, 2011
Medium beige head. Slightly hazy brown body with light lazy carbonation. Grainy caramelly aroma with grassy notes. Dry-sweetish caramelly toffee taste with grassy notes. Mid-bodied. Dry-sweetish dusty grassy aftertaste with oily buttery herbal notes. Highly drinkable session beer. (0.5l bottle at DBF’11. Also had it at brewpub, but that was before I started rating.)

mile (3131) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUN 16, 2011
Bottle. Amber, hazy, small and fully diminishing head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, some caramel and roasted malt. Body is medium to full, malty and lightly sweetish flavor, some caramel and roasted malt with some hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, some hoppyness with faint roasted mal. OK lightly sweetish dunkel with noticeable hoppyness.

500ml bottle at Plan B, shared with larsga, OleR and Gr0ve. Golden-brown body. Rapidly declining white head. Dry aroma of dark malts. Caramel, almond and dusty hops to the flavour. Ends very smooth and dry. Clean in the mouth. Nice dunkel (Copenhagen, 28.05.2011).

Bottle at home. Clear coppy pour, thin creamy off-white head. Aroma is swampy and with some spicy malts. Flavor is slightly sweet, somewhat roasted, somewhat bitter in the finish and quite clean. Drinkable, yet a bit boring brew.

Bottle. Dark brown beer with a strongish head. The aroma is malty, and the flavour is roasted, and bitter with a malty finish. Overall a reasonable well flavoured malty and roasted beer.

50cl bottle: I’m afraid the cap leaked a bit on the bottle I had, it seemed a little undercarbonated and oxidised - but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Reddish brown colour. Dark fruity aroma, notes of cocoa. Nutty, mildly roasty and minerally flavour with hay-like hops in the finish. Reminds me of a flavourful brown ale. Great, robust Dunkel!
