3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 duff (5484) - Lund, SWEDEN - OCT 24, 2004
Bottle. Has that typical German doughy bready malt flavour, some nutty characters. Pretty subtle and, yes, its not the most exciting beer, but it does its job well.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 larsga (5364) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUN 18, 2011
Medium beige head. Slightly hazy brown body with light lazy carbonation. Grainy caramelly aroma with grassy notes. Dry-sweetish caramelly toffee taste with grassy notes. Mid-bodied. Dry-sweetish dusty grassy aftertaste with oily buttery herbal notes. Highly drinkable session beer. (0.5l bottle at DBF’11. Also had it at brewpub, but that was before I started rating.)
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 downender (5275) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - JUL 29, 2007
Bottle from REWE, Bamberg. Reddy-brown colour with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel and grassy hops. Flavour was sweet, almost toffeeish with a decent dry finish. Good.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Beershine (5174) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - JUN 21, 2009
Bottle from brewery. Dark coppery-brown and clear. Aroma is subdued toasted malt, with some herbal notes. Drinkable enough with soft carbonation. Nice toasted malt qualities with not a lot of sweetness. Just a mellow, dry, drinkable marzen-like brew. Thin but has a nice finish I like.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Hildigöltur (5106) - København, DENMARK - AUG 1, 2003
This is a very nice beer. Surprisingly full flavoured for being a bottom fermented brew. It has lots of everything.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 jonas (5060) - Garching b. München, GERMANY - MAY 27, 2003
Aromahop nose.
Oakbrowm, heavily carbonated, but head dissipates fast.
Nut and slightly burned malt tastenotes, nicely balanced with hops.
Too light body.
Nice though.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ogivlado (5042) - Zagreb, CROATIA - OCT 19, 2011
Beer No. 112 on my tour through Austria, Germany and Denmark.
Bottled 500ml. -from the bottle in the car somewhere on Bavarian highway. Quite odd hint of mustard in the nose. Sweet malty, light hoppy herbal with dryish finish. Also mild touch of roastiness and alcohol.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 blipp (4880) - Newark, New Jersey, USA - SEP 4, 2012
Bottle. Pours amber with an off white head. Grainy sweetness, light earthy notes. Bland and watery. Not great.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 KyotoLefty (4777) - Kyoto, JAPAN - JUN 28, 2010
Bottle at the brewery.
To speak the truth, a rather uninteresting unfiltered dunkel, when coming from a bottle after the lager or pils here. Medium dark, very little malt taste and almost no sweetness. A good bit of hops. I was already past prime tasting ability by this time, but it was a significant letdown after the lager. Not bad, but lacking most of what I expect in a darker beer.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 crossovert (4772) - Wisconsin, USA - AUG 20, 2011
Had this on a train ride along the rhine, I was in the zone. It was delicious. Nice rich and sweet with plenty of malt and a leveling of hops.
