Bottle shared by alexanderj. Brown pour. Dark german beer flavors, some smoke and sweet grain. Traditional dark lager, and decent in that regard.

Bottle. Dark brown beer with a strongish head. The aroma is malty, and the flavour is roasted, and bitter with a malty finish. Overall a reasonable well flavoured malty and roasted beer.

500ml bottle (CWAF2013, Thurs)
Rich malty aroma. Big malty body. Full malty finish. As a malt-head, this pressed my buttons and gave me everything I want in a dunkel.

blackisle (705) - IJburg, NETHERLANDS - AUG 22, 2014
Bottle 50cl. Clear amber brown color, small sizzling creamy off-white head, disappears rather quickly, thin layer remains, fair lacing; rich aroma of roasted malts, bread, brown sugar, licorice, some fruity notes, touch of coffee; taste medium sweet and slightly bitter, roasted malts, bit of coffee; medium to full body, oily to creamy texture, soft carbonation; finish is mild bittersweet, hint of chocolate, bit peppery, roasty maltiness lingers on. Bit strong for a dunkel, but I don’t mind...

Aromahop nose. Oakbrowm, heavily carbonated, but head dissipates fast. Nut and slightly burned malt tastenotes, nicely balanced with hops. Too light body. Nice though.

Bottle at Bedford Beer Festival 2004, Wednesday Session. Maeib went and got this from the bar. Malty, cereal, grainy, bready, doughy. Slight rye hints maybe.

Light oak colour. The aroma is malty with bready and yeasty accents. Fresh and clean on the palate with pale malt and a hint of hop. A good, refreshing, beer. Bottled at Bedford beer Festival 2004.

duff (5484) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - OCT 24, 2004
Bottle. Has that typical German doughy bready malt flavour, some nutty characters. Pretty subtle and, yes, its not the most exciting beer, but it does its job well.

downender (6290) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - JUL 29, 2007
Bottle from REWE, Bamberg. Reddy-brown colour with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel and grassy hops. Flavour was sweet, almost toffeeish with a decent dry finish. Good.
