3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 MrRoss (646) - Delta, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 17, 2009
Tried both this one and Fat Cat’s IPA last night and I liked this one a little better; they’re almost the same beer except for the IPA having a tiny bit more hop. Maybe Fat Cat has only one beer recipe and they tweak it slightly to produce a "different" beer. But I digress. This one poured a well-carbonated clear amber with a foamy tan head that quickly thinned. Aroma was mostly malt with a suggestion of caramel, I guess. The taste was smooth and creamy, again with the malt. I did enjoy drinking this one.

Grapefruit and tangerine grace the caramelly aroma. Clear orange copper coloured body is topped by a shy white head that recedes to a partial cover and ring with constant bubbles. Grapefruit is strong in the flavour also along with some light vegetal notes and grainy aftertaste. Caramel is not so apparent and bitterness is moderate. Light body is somewhat thin with sharp carbonation. Tulip glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle (BCLS at Cambie/8th, Oct-06).

(Bottle & Druaght) I was fortunate enough to have caught the brewer at the end of the day and was able to taste his beer straight off the line. The draught version was miles ahead in flavour as the bottle was somewhat still. The caramel notes were perhaps TOO strong as the sweetness between that and the ample malt was a perscription to having a big headache.

Initial frothy head. Dryness and cream and sweetness blended together. Very astringent aftertaste. Carmel, corn and malt. Not too carbonated is a plus, some hop there. Doesn’t make it withou the ice cream float.Bomber that could not be half finished

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Trev (1490) - Lakeville, Minnesota, USA - OCT 17, 2005
From the bottle: Poured a hazy gold with medium frothy head that slowly waned.
Aroma was intense sweetness, caramal malt, graham cracker/biscuit, tobacco, yeasty dusty smell underneath.
Flavour was also quite intense malty sweetness. Caramel, fruity apricot. Very faint hop finish. I thought that this was a very interesting take on the cream ale and was certainly more enjoyable than a more main stream Cream Ale. I quite enjoyed it.
