presario (2497), Calgary, Alberta, Canada May 13, 2005 Dark brew with a chocolate head. I could see red tints in the foam as the beer was poured. Huge fruity aroma of cherries, raisins and light chocolate. Cherry flavour is almost overpowering. A slightly sour beer. I liked it but still found myself longing for some roasted malt to balance the cherry. Thanks to Oakes for this one. Oakes (7032), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Jan 1, 2005 Updated: Jun 18, 2005Very dark reddish-brown. Chocolatey, slightly nutty aroma. Chewy maltiness - lots of toffee, milk chocolate. No hop character, in sharp contrast to their regular porter, which is stout-hoppy. Sweet, perhaps a bit simplistic in character. Quite different from just about any porter I’ve had though, and that’s usually a good thing. JoeMcPhee (3899), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Dec 31, 2004 Thanks to Oakes for bringing this one back from the Island. Very dark black beer with a thin off-white head. Full-bodied. Malty aroma, a touch of soy and light toasted malt. Aroma and flavour have a bit of mintiness and herbal character. Slightly salty licorice finish, with a touch of sourness.
