3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 maeib (6637) - Wootton, Northampton, - MAR 27, 2011
Cask Conditioned handpump Wig & Pen Northampton. A golden beer with a white head and lacing. A biscuity taste with reasonable balancing and not overpowering honey. There’s more honey in the nose than the mouth. I’m not usually a fan of honey beers but this was pretty nice.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Sigmund (3720) - Hafrsfjord, NORWAY - MAR 24, 2011
Cask at The Harp, London, as The Fat Cat Honey Ale. Deep golden to amber colour, moderate white head. Moderate aroma of honey, hints of toffee. The flavour has moderate notes of honey, but is not too sweet. Smooth to drink, with a decent hoppy bitterness in the finish.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tdtm82 (668) - Essex, ENGLAND - DEC 18, 2010
Gravity cask runner, The Fat Cat, Colchester.
Excellent white lacing, perfume, grass, grapefruit and honey on aroma.
Grapefruit, sweet malts, caramel, honey and a nice descent succulent hop bite which holds. Some grapefruit and citrus in the mix. This is a local brewery in Colchester. This is a session ale which should be seasonable to May as I reckon it is an ideal spring beer. Great stuff either way.

Cask - The Fat Cat, Norwich. A cloudy amber with an initial fine white head that eventually dissipates to a single layer of foam. Good hoppy aromas with notes of caramel and orange. The flavour begins with some sweetness, progresses with a hint of honey sweetness and finishes with some grapefruity, orangey citric bitterness. Good mouthfeel, medium body and a pleasant, lasting bitterness.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 bacchanalia (145) - milton, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - JUL 7, 2009
one of the best honey beers I’ve ever tried. It pours a lovely deep golden yellow, a nice waft of malt, citrus & acacia honey on the nose. The palate has an initial burst of honey sweetness that for a split second you think will overpower everything, but then a blast of refreshing juicy citrus & a nice hit of bitterness kicks in to balance everything out beautifully.’

Cask conditioned at The Cider Shed, Norwich. Gold with white head. Fresh tasting, and really quite honeyed and sweetish, almost tongue coating and quite flowery. I had hints of lavendar, imagination? I’m not normally that keen on honey ales but this is quite reasonable.
