3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 chriso (7254) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 7, 2011
Cask (handpump) at the Queens Head, Chelmsford on 3 February 2011. Amber colour. Initial impression is sweet and rather malty with quite jammy fruit. However, some assertive sharp hops come through strong in the middle and it ends much more dry, bitter and balanced that the initial impression suggested. Tasty stuff.

Cask conditioned handpump The Pub Leicester. An orange/gold coloured beer with a white head. Bready malts and oatcakes in the aroma. Very bitter in the mouth with citrus notes. Big bodied and with burnt toasty notes. Bit too much going on really as the hops and the burnt bits don’t really balance. Interesting though.

Cask - The Fat Cat, Norwich. Pours amber with a fine, disappearing off-white head. It’s called Marmalade for a reason: dry orange peel aromas and a dry grassy hop note. Again, a juicy yet dry twang of bitter marmalade on the tongue, which succeeds in holding you over until the next sip. Dry and refreshing, bitterness is different and a change of pace. Softish palate, medium body.

29th May 2008. Smooth and fairly flat ale. Repressed fruit balances finely with the malt. Okay but would not want loads.
