3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DruncanVeasey (6101) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Premier, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - APR 21, 2009
BC takeout from The Fat Cat, Norwich, 4.3%ABV. Burnished orange dusty with yeast beneath a generous, collapsing white collar. As at source, robustly husky malts overlaid with rasping dry hops hinting at grapefruit, shampoo, bitter orange and tonic water. Apple strudel, plastic, pineapple, pine and grass aroma. Chocolate and smoky hints as it warms, some butter. Based on what I’ve tasted so far, I don’t think this brewer is capable of a bad beer, and the quality of their own beers was the highlight of my visit to the Fat Cat.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Alphadelic (1628) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 5, 2009
Cask @ London Drinker 25:
Crisp gold-amber with a moth-eaten head.
Sweet cereals and rock candy on the nose. Hints of a gooseberry tartness.
Acidic, bitter hop assault! Takes a while to mellow but when she does she leaves great tasty cereals and an unfortunately dry tongue.
Unchallenging yet refreshing and welcome light ale.

Cask conditioned at The Cider Shed, Norwich. Orange gold with white head. Quite a tangy, fruity beer with an underlying sweetness, the alcohol does show through as a fruity warmth. A bit heavy for an afternoon session, but with a bit of ragtime going on the old piano, all was well.

Bottle, thx to fonefan. A clear, golden beer with a small, off-white head. Looking really good actually. Quite nice aroma, piney and citrusy on a malty base, but a bit weak. Quite piney and hoppy flavor, at least for an English, leading to a long, hoppy finish. Full-bodied. A pretty good one, wanting more after the first sips. (080823)
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Maria (9556) - Thisted, DENMARK - SEP 10, 2008
TFODRBSG08 Courtesy of Fonefan. It’s hazy and golden with an OK head. The aroma has sweetness, notes of malt and fruit. The flavour has sweetness and notes of fruit, malt and licorice. The balance is nice and it’s very easy to drink.

[500ml bottle from Norfolk Square Brewery Shop, Great Yarmouth] Pours an attractive, sparkling-clear orange-amber with a thin but lasting white head and soft but prickly carbonation. Not sure why others had hazy beer - don’t know if they hadn’t let the lively sediment settle out properly? Has a tempting fresh sweet malt aroma. Floral hops and a refreshing bitterness at first. Develops caramel, malt and - yes - a little burnt marmalade. In fact, it’s surprisingly complex - I’m sure a proper beer reviewer could find a dozen flavours here! Unfortunately, the bitterness builds to unpleasant depths in the aftertaste. This is certainly an interesting beer that tempts me to try more from the brewery; however, I’m not sure I’d particularly choose this one again.

Botella. Thanks Fonefan. Deep orange colour. Nice fruity hoppy sweet aroma. Good mouthfeel. Flavour of malt, caramel and bitter hops with swet fruits.
