COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Start your day off right. This beer is infused with "cold brewed" Caribou Coffee. Creamy smooth mouthfeel with big roasted malt aromas and flavors. The coffee comes through almost cappucino-like with some chocolate notes as well.

Slightly coffee bean aroma... Tasted like the wort of a porter... Excessively sweet without much balance or coffee flavor... Poor effort.

UPDATED: JUN 30, 2010 Nitro sample at the brewpub, and a growler from the tower for home. The beer is a brownish-black color with a medium thick and foamy tan head that diminishes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Roasted coffee and malt in the nose. Rich body with a strong coffee character along with flavors of dark chocolate and hops. The finish is moderately bitter roasted coffee that lingers awhile. The nitro version had a more muted coffee presence but both were good.

Growler shared by Dogbrick. Many thanks for bringing this one back. Black pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasty coffee, a bit of cream and some chocolate. Coffee flavor with a touch of creaminess and some chocolate before a lasting bitter coffee finish. Solid.

draft - Pours dark brown to black and smells of dark roast malt and obviously coffee. The flavor is sweet roasted malt and some good coffee with a little dryness in the finish of this medium to full bodied brew.

Deep dark pour with a creamy white head. Big coffee aroma. Tastes of coffee and chocolate. Dry mouthfeel with a strange aftertaste. Solid beer.

On tap at fat heads pittsburgh. Pleasant coffee malt aroma. Black pour w/ solid tan head. Straightforward coffee stout taste. Little weak on the follow through. Just had a blackout stout - so tough competition.

Enjoyed on tap in an English pint glass. The beer pours an opaque black color, with a moderate tan head. Strong notes of coffee grounds to the nose. Carbonation is far too high for the style, almost ruining what is otherwise a great example. Notes of coffee and chocolate come through initially in the palate, followed by a light malt sweetness that shows a bit of medium English crystal malts. Hops do not make themselves known in any particular way. Once the carbonation subsides somewhat, the palate is smooth and almost milkshake-like in its mouthfeel. The finish leaves a very pleasant lingering note of coffee. Overall, one step away from being a truly great version of the style.

Another light sessionable stout Fat Headís has done a good job here. After trying a series of these I cannot wait to try some of their higher gravity beers. If they can nail the harder styles (lower in ABV) they ought to be able to make some nice imperial stouts, barleywines, etc.

Aroma / Appearance - The fluid black body swirled around the glass delicately. Black coffee, blackberries, and malt remind me of a fruity iced tea minus the sugar and rich in taste.

Flavor / Palate - Malt, caramel, coffee, and white dry toast create a very satisfying experience. There is not much depth beyond that but at five percent you would not expect it to be overly complex. Instead it hits the throat with a nice smoky finish that caps an inviting replacement for more popular beers like Guinness.
