COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Honey Blueberry Wheat. Brewed with fresh harvested spring honey stolen from some very angry bees (we have the welts to prove it) and infused with our own special painstakingly handpicked blueberry essence. A light refreshing wheat beer with a nice blueberry aroma, crackery malt flavors with a hint of sweetness and a light tart blueberry finish.

Refreshing fruit beer - the smell is honey and blueberries. Lots of blueberries. Smells fantastic.
What I found interesting is this beer is nearly colorless, a very pale yellow, as if it were a Wit. Flavor is honey sweetness and tart blueberries.
There isn’t much "beer flavor" to remark on, its as if someone added tart blueberries to a BMC lager. This makes it an option for even the beer hater. Interesting brew.

Tap at Fat Heads. Pale gold pour with a white head. Mild Burberry nose. Very fruity berry flavor but otherwise pale. Low hop profile.

Draft… Clear pale yellow ale with a small, fizzy, white head. I’m only able to pull cereal grains and blueberry from the faint aroma. Medium-bodied with soft carbonation. The flavor presents lots of honey, but only the faintest trace of blueberry essence. Leans sweet, but the bready malts are countered by a gentle, peppery hop bitterness. Finishes raspy, fruity and bittersweet.

Pours golden from tap with a thin white head. Pretty big blueberry notes on the nose. Not getting much of the honey either for taste or as a thickening agent. Fairly big blueberry notes on the tongue as well.

Draft sample. Poured clear amber color and an average fizzy off-white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate tart fruit and sweet malt aroma. Light to medium body with with a smooth rich texture and soft carbonation. Medium tingly sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Change of pace fruit beer.

Apr 25, tap @ Flatheads, North Olmsted. Pours clear golden (not blue!) with an off white head leaving some lacing. Aroma is blueberrieas, malty, honey, and a bit fruity. Thin crispy blueberry mouthfeel. Flavor is blueberries, malts, bitter sweet and a bit watery. Palate is blueberries and finish as well with a nice honey and bitter afertaste.

On tap at Fat Head’s. Pours a light golden color with an ample white head and a bit of lacing as it goes down. So far, so good. After that, this was a fruit beer gone all wrong. The nose wreaked of blueberry syrup, which isn’t the worst thing in the world for pancakes, but didn’t work at all for this beer. There was a touch of honey and some sweet malt meandering in the background, but the strong, strong, strong blueberry presence was about all I can smell. The taste went along similar lines with the addition of plenty of sweetness. There was a lot of residual sweetness in this. The combination of blueberry and the sweetness plus honey reminded me a bit of drinking the milk of a blueberry cereal. Fond memories of childhood, but not something I’m looking for in a beer. It was simply far too cloying and, aside from that, very one-dimensional. The feel was just too over the top. I really didn’t want to drink that much of this. Moving to the good things, I will say that there were no obvious brewing flaws with this--it simply is a recipe I really did not care for. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 02-24-2011

Draft at the Cleveland brewpub.
The wife ordered this one and I finished it, as usual. Aroma is with out a doubt blueberry pancakes. The flavor is that of a light pale ale with blueberry integrated into every nuance of the beer. I’m not a blueberry fan, but this is pretty good.

Aroma: Blueberry is readily apparent, with the honey as a subtle aroma underneath. Appearance: Sparkling orange-gold with a thick white head. Plus, they put a few blueberries in the beer to dance up and down inside the glass, which is a nice touch. Taste: Light-medium sweetness, hint of saltiness in the finish. Palate: Light-medium body, crisp and bubbly on the tongue, slick texture with a decent but flavorful finish. Overall: I get what Fat Head’s is going for, and it works, but it’s just not my thing. It’s a really fun fruit beer, though, and very Summery.
