GABF. Brown pour, off white head. Straight forward brown, roasted nuts, toasted malt, bready flavors. Very clean and pretty damn good for a style that can really suck.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a clear brown color with a medium thin foamy light beige head that dissipates gradually. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Malt, caramel and hops in the nose. Light-bodied with flavors of roasted malt and piney hops. The finish is roasty with a mild earthy hop aftertaste. Decent overall.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma: Nut malt aromas with hints of cocoa at the edges.
Appearance: Dark brown with tan head.
Taste: Light sweetness with a medium bitterness.
Palate: Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation, long finish.
Overall: A LOT more hoppy than I expected. It’s almost a dark pale ale. Still, very solid and well crafted.
