3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 rondphoto (1014) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - JUN 18, 2013
Clear copper with a generous foamy head and curtains of lace. This is heaven for hopheads - taste has just a hint of malt, but it hasn’t fully asserted itself before pine hops roll over it so aggressively that there is nothing else to savor. If hops are your thing, this is your brew. Otherwise, good luck.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ineedbeer (215) - Oakland, California, USA - JUN 16, 2013
Aroma is moderately hippy with lots of grapefruit, citrus, tropical fruit and a balanced pine resin note. Faint malt backbone, but this is mostly hops.
Pours a fairly clear golden orange with a thick slightly off white head with fairly good retention. Low lacing and fairly small legs.
Flavor starts with a light sweet malt character with some cracker notes. After that it is all hops: lots of grapefruit and pine resin, lesser notes of other citrus and tropical fruit. Moderately high bitterness that is fairly clean. Light alcohol note in the finish along with a lingering bitterness and light malt note. Lingering pine resin and grapefruit. Finish is nice and dry.
Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth.
Overall a very enjoyable IPA, but I must say I was expecting the hops to be brighter and fruitier. I have had this on tap before and remember it being a much fruitier IPA - this bottle is fairly dank and resiny. Still a very good, West Coast IPA. I wonder if some of the fruitiness was lost in transport to CA, but the tap version I had was also in CA.

Catch a whiff of this and you'll be excited to taste it. Tastes amazing, pine and citrus with the hop blast for the IPA lover. Tough of the mouth but based on the crazy hop flavor surprisingly smooth

Pours an orange amber color with a white foam head. Aroma of fresh grapefruit and hints of zest and earthiness. Wow. Pulls you in. Sweet citrus taste with excellent hop hit. Resiny. Great feel. An excellent rec by Damico.

Clear copper. Big hoppy aroma. A touch catty to start but turns to a very fruity grapefruit after it breathes a little. Juicy. Good stuff.

I've heard of the brewery, but never had any of their beers. Unbelievably great IPA; has to rank in my top 5.

Acquired in a trade with phaleslu. It poured a bright copper color with an off-white head. The aroma was of lots of citrusy hops plus a little pine and a good amount of caramel malts. The taste was the same with a lot of hops. A veryy good IPA. Thanks Peter!

Wow - have not felt compelled to rate anything for a while, but this really moved me. I’m a huge IPA fan, but have been a bit disappointed with all the pretenders that have emerged over the past few years. You know who you are. Have also been disappointed with the Ohio beer scene... not much to rave about, until now. This is an awesome brew. Yes, it’s hoppy, but it’s balanced! This is not easy to achieve. Great flavor, color, aroma and palate. I’ll leave the specifics to others, but this is a winner.
