4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Cliff (394) - Avon Lake, USA - JAN 12, 2010
On tap, poured a pale golden color with a thick white head. Spicy, yeast aromas, a touch of banana and bubblegum. Very spicy flavor with a little alcohol burn. Light on the palate, very effervescent. A delicious Trappist style triple. I could drink a lot of this.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BMan1113VR (6531) - Los Angeles, California, USA - MAY 28, 2012
On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Pours with a crystal clear deeper golden hued body with a small white head that leaves good lace. Aromas are pretty strongly estery with medium-strong ripe banana, alcohol, low phenol (4vg), lightly candied presence, low malt. Isoamyl acetate dominates. Light pepper, a bit sweet smelling. Flavors are boozy, candied ginger, mild sweet, alcohol, lots of banana. Just a bit too sweet to be enjoyable (way too sweet for a classical triplel). Clove and peppery phenol. Boozy, medium bodied, fuller carbonation.

3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 gsmitty80 (1416) - Washington DC, USA - DEC 7, 2011
Thick and sweet belgian triple with a good aroma and high alcohol content. Made me warm in the winter and I thought it was a pretty solid beer.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Tmoney99 (7300) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 20, 2011
Draft sample at FH brewpub. Poured clear amber color with an average fizzy white head that lasted with good lacing. Complex citrus, spice and yeast aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and lively carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration with a small alcohol bite as it warmed. This is a refreshing good beer.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Nephilium (953) - Ohio, USA - JUN 12, 2011
(From a growler) This beer starts with an interesting aroma. There’s hints of spice, and sugar. It pours a clear straw, with a full (if small for the style) white head. Nice clean flavor, with a strong sweetness from candi sugar noticeable. Light on the palate, and the alcohol is not noticeable. This is a nice dangerous, drinkable Tripel.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dogbrick (4842) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 30, 2011
Sample at the brewpub. The beer pours a yellow-gold color with a medium thin white head that burns away steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of yeast, citrus and spice. Medium body with flavors of sweet fruits and yeast, plus some wheat and malt. The finish is fruity with a bit of alcohol in the background. Decent overall.
1.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 cheapdark (2964) - Quiptown & Central Valley, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 22, 2011
On tap. Lemony pale yeller. Has a fading creamy head. No visible co2. Smell is a little sweet and mildly candy like. Strong initial flavors with a weird spice background. Leaves a big bitter feel on the back of the throat. Quite uncivilized like many other usa beldgy trip immoes. Nice lacing on the glass. Bitter rude alky finish.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Beerman6686 (2551) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 11, 2010
This poured a cloudy pale darker yellow to orange with a white head. Aroma was lots of alcohol, some yeast, and belgian candy sugar. Flavor was loads of alcohol and some strange astringent garbage flavor that I couldn’t quite get past. Not too great.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Brigadier (1940) - Bloomington, Indiana, USA - FEB 9, 2010
On tap at brewpub
As I transitioned from the only session beer on my todo list to the heavier stuff I switched from a full pint to samples. Even five ounces of a few 9%+ ABV beers can get to you after a while. This was a fine example of a tripel though it was lacking in some minor ways. Overall though it is one of the best that I have tried from a American brewery, particularly one not known for its Belgian style beers (yet).
Aroma / Appearance - The thin white head bobbed like a life preserver over a crisp carbonated semi-transparent body. The scent of honey, lemon, cotton candy, and ephemeral hops mixed into a sweet and relaxing harmony.
Flavor / Palate - Tart and sweet the first impression was of white pepper. The sweetness did slowly begin to develop over time. Very easy on the palate the mouthfeel was present without being dense. A winter warmer for a cold snowy day this would have been a great reason to come on its own if not for the other world class beers in the day’s line up.
