Draft pour at the source. Pours a darker black with a thin khaki head of foam. Very good retention. The aroma is ashy and and roasty. Heavy malt profile comes through thick on the tongue. Heavy on the palate. Thick mouthfeel.

On tap at the GTMW 2013
Walking past Fat Headís I did not even plan to stop but this drew me in. A solid imperial stout is right on the mark. I would not call it an exceptional standout but it would have me coming back to Clevelandís west side along with the rest of their taps.
Aroma / Appearance - An oily black base slips down the sides of the glass. Murky legs give it a heavy feel. Coffee and chocolate are the main drivers of a pretty blunt nose. The malt holds it all together like superglue.
Flavor / Palate - Malt, chocolate, and soft anise give it some depth. This is not a rich chewy imperial stouts that is heavy on the alcohol. Despite a warm finish it tastes a bit like a bittersweet espresso that has been iced. Hops even make an appearance at one point. This is an average but very enjoyable example of the style.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The flavor is straight earthen coffee with a bittermess akin to strong coffee, burnt grain and some herbal hop inclusion. An aftertaste of tobacco and char is left residing on the tongue. This is a medium bodied brew with a light amount of carbonation. Overall this is one aggressive brew right here that has a lot of coffee notes despite not having coffee in it. Would drink again.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: SEP 11, 2013 Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a dark black color with a small foamy dark tan head that left good lacing. The aroma was semi-sweet and malty with faint chocolate and anise. The flavor was sweetish, roasty and malty with anise, vanilla and crisp floral hops. Medium length roasty malt and floral hop finish. Moderately full bodied and creamy. Ok.

On special tap at the bocktown, nice place. slight roasty smell. black with no head. quite bitter at first then I realize its not rizing to the level of an impy. yes burnt wood on the back of the throat. almost a little rude but I canít quite say its an impy, just a rude stout. some co2 too. seems to hide abv well, really fools ya, look out.

On tap at saloon in Pittsburgh. Pours very dark brown with small tan head. Aromas of mostly chocolate and roast with some nice hoppy notes as well. Flavors of chocolate, fair amount of roasted malts, light coffee, raisins and nice amount of hop bitterness. Finishes dry with all of the roasted malts. Fair amount of hop bitterness too. Solid.

This one poured a very dark brown, almost spresso like, with a big tan head. Aroma was lots of dark chocolate, ashey, heavy burnt roast, and some herbal hops. Flavor was very similar, lots of dark mlats, burnt and ashey, but not overwhelming, and some bitter hops notes as well. Pretty solid impy.

Sample at Fat Headís North Olmsted on 1/21/13. Pitch black pour with a medium tan head. Malty and chocolatey nose with notes of raisin, and bitter earthy hops. Malty flavor with plenty of dark fruit and and bit of alcohol before a chocolate and roasted malt finish.

Tap at FH 3Jan2013, Massive hop nose and thats a good thing the problem is the execution the sweetness of the chocolate doesnt meld so well with the high hop levels, it tastes okay and drinks okay, but it isnt a super pleasant elixir
