Commercial Description:
FAT HEAD’S HOP JUJU IMPERIAL IPA Bordering on the supernatural, Hop Juju is the perfect name for this beer as the magical hops cast their spell with intense, dank aromas of pine and citrus and big, aggressive, bitter flavors of pine, grapefruit and orange. Nicely balanced by a very sturdy malt backbone. and a hint of alcohol 8.7% ABV. 100 IBU

Cask Stillage from the Jug at the GABF, Colorado Convention Center 25/09/2009 Big hop aroma. Golden coloured and very hoppy citrus and pine flavours with a crisp creamy and slightly dry bitter finish.

On tap at the brew keeper. Sweet aroma. Very strong, with the alcohol evident. Heavy.

On tap at Fat Heads pours dark golden color with off white head. Aroma is pine, citrus, and more pine. Voluptuous mouthfeel. Flavor follows the nose and finishes semi-dry. The caramel backbone holds up well to the hop character. The alcohol is hidden well. Nice beer.

On tap at the Brewkeeper. No specific name, but they said it’s the brand new IIPA from these guys and this is the only IIPA I see listed in their catalog. Opaque orange pour with a thin off-white head. Citrus hop aroma (both orange and grapefruit) with a nice sweet malt balance. Orange hop flavor up front with the grapefruit following closely. A touch of malt jumps out before the lasting bitter finish. I need to get up to the brewpub and check these guys out.

On tap, poured an orangish color with a thin white head. Cloudy, with some great grapefruit, orange, peach aromas. Vey hoppy flavor, tastes like lots of Simcoe and Amarillo, with some Columbus dankness. Smooth flavor, pretty dry with a lasting finish. Nice beer.

Copper pour with a small head. Aroma of pine, citrus and sweet fruits. Flavor is piney and abrasive with sweet malt in the middle. Has a little candy like finish that is not appealing. Decent body and drinkable but nothing great.

Draught at Pittsburgh Bar: Aroma of hops, hop oil, citrus, grapefruit, and caramel malts. Poured orange/amber in color with a tiny, off-white head around the edges only. Slightly hazy. Very slightly sparkling. Flavor is heavily bitter and lightly sweet. Tastes of hops, grapefruit, pine, hop oil, light caramel malt, and light bubblegum. Medium body. Oily, then dry texture. Average carbonation. Bitter, hops, pine, and light caramel finish is lightly dry. 8.7%ABV is totally hidden. A very nice, bitter, IIPA.
