COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The IMPERIAL version of our Bean Me Up! Velvety, creamy stout highlighted by chocolate malt & roasted barley. This silky stout is finished with Caribou Coffees Mocha Java coffee. Forget the decaf — try a “Bean Me Up” while savoring out Chocolate Stout cake for dessert!!!

Ordering a small sample of this I was met with a beer that was better than the sum of its parts. A beefed up version of the regular Bean Me Up this takes it to the next level. I am not sure how long it will last but if you are in the area get there while you can.

Aroma / Appearance - The semi-opaque reddish black body was murky like a thick oil. Thin long legs gave away a reasonably high ABV content. Espresso mixed with sugar and creamer make it a dessert like experience. There isn’t much depth but it works.

Flavor / Palate - A chewy half melted Mars Bar creeps into the mouth then lingers there. Dark chocolate, instant coffee, and a dash of milk play on the throat. For the style it is nothing special. However even so it was enjoyable and worth trying.

Draft… Pours pitch black with a mid-sized, creamy, beige head. Decent retention. Deep-roast coffee and dark chocolate are the major players in the nose - blueberry, raspberry and blackberry nuances as well. Medium-bodied with stinging carbonation. Very roasty Cuban espresso flavor – quite carbonaceous. Medium burnt bitterness. Finishes charred, bitter and a touch acrid.

Sample at Fat Head’s on 9/2/11. Pours darkest brown with a medium tan head. Strong coffee aroma with some roasted malt and chocolate. Coffee and chocolate flavor with a roasty, dank finish and a similar aftertaste that fades surprisingly quickly for a coffee beer.
