On tap at the winter warmer fest and brewpub. Pours a cloudy orangish with a thin head. Spicey aromas, toasted cereal with a bit of bread. Spicy flavor, lots of rye coming through with minimal yeasty esters. A nice brew, smooth mouthfeel that really coats. Overall a nice beer and a style that you don’t see local very oftern.

Acetobacter (816) - Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 15, 2010
Enjoyed on tap at the brewer in a sampling glass. The beer pours a burnished amber/light brown color, with a moderate off-white to light tan head. The nose brings some malt character, but less than one would expect from a traditional bock. I suppose this is acceptable, given the large percentage of rye malt advertised in the label. Some Munich/CaraMunich character is detectable, but it is overly subtle. The palate is smooth and accurately carbonated, but again lacks the depth of malt character that very good examples of the style possess. Seemingly also absent is the spicy note lent by the addition of rye malt. Again, what malt sweetness one does taste tends toward Munich malt, with perhaps a very slight touch of Special "B." The finish is semi-sweet and clean. Overall, not a great example of the style, but better than average.

fiver29 (1015) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - MAR 2, 2010
On tap at the brewpub pours clear dark amber color with tan head. Aroma is brown sugar. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor is spicy brown sugar with rye, caramel, and finishes semi dry. Not bad.
