3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown color with huge fluffy tan head and nice lacing. Aroma and flavor have sweet cocoas and a slight bitterness. There seems to be light vinous dark fruity notes as well. Good overall

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
This stout is just not enjoyable to me. Not sure if I got the bad bottle in the batch or what. Looks good. Smells sweet. Dark and sweet. Too much chocolate maybe.

tap at north olmstead brewpub - really nice cream stout. Deep chocolate malts, barley hulls some roasted coffee. Creamy smooth body, sweet caramel malts. Finishes with a vanilla booziness.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Keg at Fat Heads PDX, 09/11/14.
Light black with moderate tan edgeing.
Nose is dark maltings, sweet toffee fudge, light roast.
Taste comprises dark fruit rinds, chocolate, vanilla essence, dark toffee fudge.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Ok stuff but not a lot of depth ABV considered and I wasnít detecting any obvious characteristics to put this in the sweet stout camp.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the Portland location.
A: Dark mahogany color with a creme colored head.
N: Vanilla, cocoa, coffee, some tobacco, and leather, but this is mostly candy flavors.
T: Simply sweet, not cloying.
M: Medium body, light carbonation, alcohol is hidden.
O: Big malty sweet stout without much complexity. Not a dealbreaker by any means, but I would like some espresso elements.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
355 mL bottle. Nice pour - very active brown head. The aroma is sharp, rather than sweet, with booze joining bitter chocolate. Kinda weird. It tastes stronger than it is, booze-wise. Never gets too sweet, which is nice. Vanilla never makes much of an appearance. Not too much roast.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle: Chestnut brown pour, a little darker in the glass with a deep khaki layer of foam that fades quickly to a very bubbly film & collar. Aroma is pretty mild. Mostly light chocolate notes with hints of coffee, roasted malt, cream, & some stale caramelized sugars. Taste is a little underwhelming as well. Some chocolate malt, a touch of caramel... Again, a strange staleness to the flavor. A little creamy milkiness with some roasted malt in the finish. Wishy washy mouth feel, not as creamy as Iíd expect. Just okay.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
"Cocoa, milk chocolate, and slight roast, raisin and cream in the palate. Smooth feel which was surprising given its overly ample head. Cory said it well - great balance between dessert and session. Lingering light bittersweet aftertaste. Thanks ggrumet for the trade!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle thanks to artmcd8! This is my third Fat Headís beer from Art. The other two were pretty stellar so hopefully this one makes it 3 for 3. Itís also my last beer left from the local beer swap 3.14. I told myself I wasnít buying any more beer until I went on vacation so Iíve just been drinking the stuff I got from trades lately. Dark cola pour with a big two finger light brown head. Aroma is like a beer float. (Stout + ice cream) Vanilla ice cream, chocolate, light coffee notes, faint hint of alcohol. Iím enjoying the aroma. It smells like dessert but not in a heavy, overly sweet way. Now for the first sip. The beer has a bit of a bit to it when it first hit the palate. It tingles and sizzles on the palate. The bitterness is much more pronounced than the nose would let on. There is a hint of chocolaty sweetness but it stays in the background. The bitter, roasty notes take center stage. Dry, smoky finish. Iím honestly a little torn on this one. For a cream stout, I donít really care for it. I prefer my cream stouts more on the sweeter side, and this is far from that. Although, I do have to say the there are some sweeter notes coming out of the beer as it warms up. Regardless, itís still not what I look for in a cream stout. Coming at it as just a beer though, itís quite enjoyable. My mouth tastes like I just ate a brownie and smoked a cigar. Itís satisfying in itsí own unique way. Go into this with an open mind, and itís sure to satisfy. Cheers Art, thanks for some great beers!
