draft - Pours hazy yellow with a lasting white head. The aroma is mainly citrus hops. It tastes quite bitter with plenty of citrus. The body is medium and overall it’s a good though not great quaff.

This poured a bright orange color with a white head. Aroma was loads of piney dank hops, and not much else, just hoppy goodness. Flavor was much the same, piney and some grapefruit too, punishingly bitter for an APA. Another great hop bomb from Fat Heads.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 MrBunn (2219) - Western, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 6, 2010
Growler fill after sample at Fat Heads in OH. Pours an orangish gold with a little bit of a head (although the sample at Fat Heads had a decent head.) Aromas are full of floral and lemony hops with a little bit of a passion fruit side to them. Flavor is grassy, with lots of citrus and tropical fruit. The malty presence is honey and dough, finish is sharp hops bitterness. Very good and there is a definite connection with the Head Hunter here.

I really liked this APA, sampled at Penn Brewery. Strong hop presence! Aroma was mostly that flat citrus and pine of a good IPA. Pour was a surprisingly light gold with a one finger white head. Taste was delicious! Strong citrus hops around every corner. The grapefruit like bitterness overshadows any malt that dares show it’s presence. Nice bread/yeast thickness in the front and in the aftertaste. Good carbonation and all around good beer,
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 kramer (3878) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 24, 2009
Tap @ Fat Head’s. Pours a hazy dark gold body with a minimal foamy white head. More floral hop nose than citrus with some doughy pale maltiness. The flavor is doughy malts under a citrusy, but not bitter hoppiness. It’s a bit too clingy and bready for me, but it’s not terrible. Medium bodied, a bit sticky, with moderate fizzy carbonation. Not a big fan of this one.

Sample. Very good APA. Tons of sticky, piney resiny hops here. Nice body but great hop flavor. maybe a tad heavy of the pine but nonethe less a great APA

Sample at the brewpub. Cloudy orange pour with a big white head. Citrusy hop nose with a bit of sweet malt. Hop flavor that is piney and citrusy with a bit of malt and a very bitter finish.

On tap, poured a clear deep golden color. Nice dank hoppy aroma with a bit of malt sweetness in the background. Really nice hoppy flavor balance with some grainy caramel flavors. Really easy drinking and a well crafted pale ale.

7/14/2009: Fat Head’s Pack-A-Wollop S.P.A. (Strong Pale Ale) is a great pale ale. It has lots of sweet orange citrus hops with a soft pale and toffee malt base. The flavor has lots of grapefruit, so it is even more citrusy than the aroma. There is a mild to moderate level of bitterness. The beer has a clear, shiny copper color with a dense, creamy, lasting beige head and near solid lacing. Overall I REALLY enjoyed this beer.
Sample (draught; 6.0% abv; 66 ibu) at the Cat’s Eye in Athens, Ohio during Ohio Brew Week 2009. Rating #3 for this beer.
