Pssst. Come a little closer. Weíve got a little something shakiní that may interest you. Is it a Stout or an American Black Ale? Well, well, well, you can never tell. Eyes on the prize, put your nose in the glass. Donít drink too fast. Gotta make it last. Just let it roll across your tongue like a hopped-up velvet thundercloud.

Donít tell me this stout ainít got no hops. You just gotta sniff around. Come on over to the dark side of the street.

Dark beer with a foamy brown head that left solid sheets of lacing on the glass. Nose of puffed chocolate and pine. There is a lot of hop bitterness in this, along with lots of bitter chocolate, burnt brown sugar, and some burnt toast. There is a long pine forest, hop resin burn in the finish with just a hint of stale coffee. Quite tasty.

12 oz. bottle from Jeffís Marathon. Bottled on 12/29/14. Pours a deep, opaque near-black color with a big, frothy tan head that settles into an uneven ring and loose film, while heavily lacing the glass. Aroma of bakerís chocolate, roasted malts, burnt sugar, toast, rubber, earth, coffee, citrus zest, and a bit of peppery spice. Flavor of bakerís chocolate, grapefruit peel, licorice, earth, roasted malts, and a bit of hop oil. Medium-bodied, with a smooth, roasty, very bitter mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Had to change this to a black IPA after trying it. Imperial stout isnít quite right.

Tap at mellow mushroom new Albany. Nose is hoppy for style. Pour is black and lingering brown head. Piney taste and smooth medium body. Creamy even. Says 8.5% but doesn't taste like it. Basically reminds me of a simpler and smoother Rasputin - no raisin or complex taste like that but still good.
