Pssst. Come a little closer. Weíve got a little something shakiní that may interest you. Is it a Stout or an American Black Ale? Well, well, well, you can never tell. Eyes on the prize, put your nose in the glass. Donít drink too fast. Gotta make it last. Just let it roll across your tongue like a hopped-up velvet thundercloud.

Donít tell me this stout ainít got no hops. You just gotta sniff around. Come on over to the dark side of the street.

13 oz draught at Pint Room, Dublin. Black; foamy tan head that dissipates into a light covering. Good lacing. Aroma roast, coffee, chocolate. Medium-full body, predominantly roasty with coffee. Very good, yet very forgettable; I had multiple Dragonís Milkís after this and they blew this beer away.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 12/27/2014. Pours pitch black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky tan head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, grapefruit, orange peel, pine, light smoke/char, floral, grass, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt and moderate citrus/piney hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, grapefruit, orange peel, pine, light smoke/char, floral, grass, and roasted earthiness. Good amount of pine and roast/charred bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, grapefruit, orange peel, pine, light smoke/char, and floral/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice robustness and complexity of dark/roasted malt and moderate citrus/piney hop flavors; with a good roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent hoppy imperial stout style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of big dark/roasted malt and moderate citrus/piney hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

12oz bottle thanks to Jeff. Pours out black topped with a brown head. The lable confused me imperial American stout I was thinking it was a imp stout. Then I smelt it and was wow lots of hops. Nose is pine roast malts and chocolate. Taste is heavy hops and rich roast malts. Tasty.

Wittales (700) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - APR 16, 2015
Appearance was jet black with lasting creamy mocha 3 finger head, rings of lacing. Aromas are chocolate, wood, herbal, spice with hints of coffee and toffee, no alcohol. Taste are milk chocolate upfront with hints of brown sugar and coffee middle. The bitter herbal, woody and slightly resinous earthery . finish. Palate was creamy smooth CO2 with medium-full body, then lasting balanced black bitter hoppy finish. Overall a wonderful stout or black ale?

Pours a very dark black with hints of haziness in it and a small foamy tan head. Aroma of bitter chocolate, coffee, burnt toast, some citrus, earth, and wood. Flavor was quite complex and interesting. Highly bitter with the baking chocolate, stale coffee, licorice, dirt, wood, pine, and citrus. Very interesting beer. Medium body, thinner slick texture, and a very long and lasting bitterness. Solid beer.

FROTHINGSLOSH (5340) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 4, 2015
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured thick and black with a huge foamy dark tan head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was toasty, malty, floral hops, a bit of cocoa, coffee and wood. The flavor was bitter with floral hops, roasty malts and faint coffee. Very long bitter floral hop finish. Moderately full bodied. Ok.

Dark beer with a foamy brown head that left solid sheets of lacing on the glass. Nose of puffed chocolate and pine. There is a lot of hop bitterness in this, along with lots of bitter chocolate, burnt brown sugar, and some burnt toast. There is a long pine forest, hop resin burn in the finish with just a hint of stale coffee. Quite tasty.
