Rich amber color with aroma of sweet pumpkin pie and savory spices with hints of sweet malt. A chewy mouthfeel that you can sink your teeth into. Rich and creamy with pumpkin up front then sweet malt flavors, pie crust graininess, spice, hints of brown sugar and a clean finish.

Pint at Fat Head’s on 10/7/11. Clear copper pour with a medium tan head. Sweet malt nose with ginger and cinnamon notes. Cinnamon flavor up front giving way to sweetness and caramel malt before some ginger character leading to a semi-sweet finish.

Had on tap at Stoudt’s Microfest. Nice, thick dark pour, nicely sweet, and not too strong on the pumpkin. Well balanced, and worth coming back to.

GTMW 25. Poured hazy dark pumpkin color with a large off-white frothy head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Solid doughy pumpkin pie and sweet cream aroma. Medium to full body with a creamy texture and flat carbonation. Heavy pumpkin, spice and brown sugar flavor with a medium to heavy spice sweet finish of modeaate to long duration. Standout seasonal beer.

On tap at GTMW (2011)

I may have to return to Fat Head’s when this goes on tap. A solid seasonal that leans more towards the spicy end of the spectrum than the vegetatal end it was refreshing. Heavily spiced nutmeg, oranges, and pumpkin seep from the warm orange body. There are some better examples out there but if you liked Southern Tier’s Pumking give this one a shot.

Draft at Great Taste. Pours a deep orangey brown with a sticky offwhite head that lasts. The nose is great. Pumpkins spice, true pumpkin pie, caramel & cream chees frosting. On taste, big and rich, excellent spicing that is balanced by a strong caramelly sweetness that persists. There may be some fruity sweet potatoe type notes as well that work great. This is what I expect out of a good pumpkin beer. Spot on.
