on tap at Fat Heads CLE on 2/4/12, Nice amber color, with the traditional malty taste, Tastes eerily similar to GLBC Dortmunder Gold, which is also tasty, so this works for me.

Tap at Fat Heads. Clear pale yellow pour with a small white head. Aroma and taste of buttery grains and mild hops. Nice for the style.

Draft… Clear and light yellow with a small, fizzy, white head. The bouquet consists of clover honey and pale malts with a suggestion of white pepper. Medium to full-bodied with a 2%-milk mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. A bounty of hop bitterness and flavor with a crisp, bittersweet finish. A lot going on for the style.

(Poured from a growler) Nice clean lager aroma, with a hint of spicy hops. Pours a light gold, with a huge white head. Clean taste, a touch of sweetness, with a finish of mild noble hops. Light on the palate, and easy drinking. A nice summer lager.

Tap sample. Pours a clear golden color with an average frothy white head that was lasting with good lacing. Good complex balanced aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Moderate sweet flavor with a good moderate sweet finish. Good smooth brew.

On tap at Fat Head’s. Pours a clear golden-straw color with a good white head and quite a bit of lacing as that eventually falls down into a thin collar. The nose brings a bit of grain and straw without too much else. There is a touch of light fruit and some herbal hops, though those are quite faint. The taste falls along the same lines. There is some grain and faint Noble hops, though I didn’t really get anything else. The body is pretty good with some refreshing carbonation. Drinks pretty well overall--nice, clean, and inoffensive. With an hour to kill at Fat Heads I decided to start with a few beers that I have yet to try despite them being semi-regular offerings. This is a well done dortmunder that one could drink a few of without killing the palate. If you aren’t in the mood for the monster known as Head Hunter this makes a good alternative.

Aroma / Appearance - The golden carbonated body bubbled with life. A white head ringed the sides like the fringe of soap residue around a drain. Wheat, bright floral notes, and malt contrast with the hops to ease the overall impression and bring it into balance.

Flavor / Palate - Wheaty smoothness washes over the tongue. A mixture of hops and malts teases the palate until after a few sips it makes its entire goal known. Easy drinking it respects the palate by not smashing the senses. After a few sips of water most traces are gone. Overall this isn’t a style I would always seek out but it is a nice way to start an afternoon.

Aroma: Bready malts Appearance: Clear gold with luxurious white head. Taste: Heavy sweetness with a slightly sour finish. Palate: Light-medium body, slick texture, decent but tasty finish. Overall: I see what they’re going for, and it probably works for some, but I really wasn’t a fan. They offer a lot of better beers than this.

This beer is a solid lager in the finest traditions, the appearance and consistency are perfect, it is full of flavor, and is a palate quencher. When frequenting this brewery I find it hard to sample the other beers, because I feel they pale in comparison
