Visiting on a cold weekend afternoon I scanned the list to find this along with a few other new offerings. It sounded interesting enough so I ordered a sample to see what Fat Heads was up to these days. An average brown ale it does not seem to be one of their strong suits. Even so it was a good way to start lunch.

Aroma / Appearance - Mahogany brown body bubbles with a corona of white film. Malt and noble hops drive a nose which reminds me of a generous slab of Texas toast fresh from the oven.

Flavor / Palate - Caramel, gentle maple hops, and a soft finish farm a memorable experience. Not changing much from start to finish the result is a decent beer. Brown ales aren’t one of my favorite styles, especially at 7% but this indicates whoever brewed it knew what they were doing.

Aroma: Caramel and chocolate with hints of fresh bread Appearance: Clear, dark amber with nice tan head Taste: Medium sweetness straight through with hints of sourness in the finish Palate: Light-medium body, soft carbonation, creamy texture, dry finish Overall: Very solid. Not mind blowing, but lots of malty depth that makes it a step above.

Sample at Fat Head’s Cleveland on 12/10/11. Clear brown pour with a medium beige head. Spicy and piney hop nose with a bit of citrus and malt. Caramel malt flavor at first, but roasted malt and grassy and piney hops come through quick and last all the way to the finish.
