3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Brigadier (1940) - Bloomington, USA - DEC 9, 2011
On tap at brewpub
A strange beer with no direction I could not figure out what the intent was behind this tap. While it didn’t have any glaring flaws at the same time it was unfocused. Coming from Fat Heads this was a disappointment. Fortunately everyone slips up from time to time; the rest of the taps were excellent as usual.
Aroma / Appearance - Carbonated honey gold liquid traps about a quarter of incoming light. A soft white head is gentle like flakes of fresh snow. Honey nut cheerios with a residue of milk and apple influenced malts create a nose which is hard to pin down. It is almost like a rye cider.
Flavor / Palate - Carbonated warm bubbles coat the tongue. Along with the taste of white wine comes 7-UP. The finish is just as confusing with a mix of honey, almonds, and untoasted slices of rye bread. Overall there were no signs of infection or glaring flaws. This just lacked anything to make it worth more than a four ounce sample.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 pottygok (239) - Ohio, USA - FEB 8, 2012
Aroma: Honey readily apparent.
Appearance: Clear gold-orange with minimal head
Taste: Light sweetness throughout with hint of sourness
Palate: Medium body, slick texture, low carbonation, dry finish
Overall: Nice, clean beer. Not my taste, not wowed, but it’s solid and well crafted.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 JaBier (3249) - Capital City, Ohio, USA - DEC 14, 2011
Sample at Fat Head’s Cleveland on 12/10/11. Clear gold pour with a medium off-white head. Aroma of light, crisp hops, sweet honey and malt. Honey and grainy malt flavor with a light finish.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 fiver29 (1015) - Cleveland, Ohio, USA - APR 10, 2009
Sample at the brewery. Pour is straw golden color with white head. Aroma is mostly grain. Light mouthfeel. Flavor is gritty grain and not very good. My least favorite on the list.
