2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Clear gold... looks like a pale lager. Smell is kind of bad. Taste is not much better. Trader Joeís could do better, although the price was right. Only real upside to this beer was the high alcohol content and the price.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Local bottle from Trader Joeís singles rack. Seriously it has a weasel on the label, Iím not expecting big things here. Wow, that is not good and bordering on offensive. Why in the world is this 7+ ABV? Odd peach tea flavour too. Wonít be buying this again. Why Firestone, why oh why?

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours light amber with a medium white head. Floral citrus hop nose with a good caramelized malt flavor. Nicely balanced pale with a good citrus hop finish. Could be a little sweeter up front.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Trader Joeís, San Diego. Nice golden-amber colour with a small white head. Mild but pleasant aroma, with some caramel sweetness and a citric hop edge. Flavour follows the aroma pretty closely. Strangely, this seems closer to being a pale ale than Fat Weasel Pale Ale. Itís also the better of the two, but still nothing special.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma is fairly strong and malty, not complex but still inviting. It pours a nice clear golden amber with a fairly thick though not persistent white head. Flavor is malty, a little crisp, slightly fruity and slightly bitter. Texture is smooth, somewhat thick and just a little tingly. Not too shabby.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours a deep golden color with a very small white head that fizzes out slowly.
The aroma is grainy and has a lot of hay character. Iím really trying to place the dominant aroma here, it seems a little like wet dog food... or like a wet dog eating wet dog food. I donít know for sure, but it does not smell very nice.
The flavor pretty well has it together till the finish, Itís a nice amber, not really very sweet with a clean toasty maltiness, a definable hop bitterness and a peachy fruity note, not exactly exciting but seems drinkable enough. Then BAM like a shot of liquor down your throat just a huge alcohol character in the finish just knocks you upside the head and then just sort of lingers with a bit of a burning sensation and some off plastic-y notes. Itís just a very strange beer.
This does not seem like anything coming out of Schell, if I had to guess I would have though that this were some sort of Minhas beer. What a bizarre hybrid of Amber Ale and Malt Liquor, Whatís going on with these Trader Joeís contract beers? Iím just feeling like they keep getting worse with every one I try.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle-An aroma of hops and slight malt on a light amber with a nice white head. Taste of hops with some citrus and a little malt. This doesnít seem to be an amber but a pale. Not a bad beer. This is more of what I expect from August Schell. Contract brewed by them.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 oz. bottle, made by Schellís. Unlike the Trader Joeís Jumping Cow amber I had yesterday, this one has a bit more ruddy malt, under a white, slightly lacy head. Could almost pass for a Honkerís Ale. Taste shows a little more hop bite than the JC, too. Citrussy bite of NW hops, but not a lot. My label claims 7.1% alcohol. Still, it goes down pretty quickly, and forgettably. Not too bad for a "store brand" beer from the provisioners of "Two Buck Chuck."

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
This one is bitter, without being hoppy. Itís got a nice golden color, but thatís its best quality. Little smell or head, I would be only fat weasels would like it.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Good beer, nice malt nose and citrus after taste. Hops are noticeable, clean fresh and flavorful. Try it youíll like it.
