3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Fresh grapefruit and pine aroma with strawberry and base malt notes. Clear bronze under a lasting, bubbly, off-white blanket. Sweet caramel flavour perfectly balanced by strawberry and pine hops (must be centennial hops in here). Bitterness balances the sweet caramel perfectly. Big flavour yet delicate. Medium body, medium carbonation, almost dry finish. Epitome of the APA.

Very nice pale ale. Menu says it’s similar to a west coast IPA and I agree, it’s close. Small nose but nice and bitter with good taste.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at brewpub
pours bright deep orange with a Sudsy white head and great lacing. Pure c hops on the nose with notes of tangerines and pineapple. Flavors are sweet pineapple grapefruit and some tart fruits. Very complex pale. However its a bit on the sweet inside somewhat astringent and sugary at times. Finish is dry firm yet remains sweet underneath the dry. Very good!

Super nice. Basically an IPA. Very hoppy. Strong grapefruit and pine notes. Fresh. Maybe a tad less bitter than an IPA.

Tap at brewery one last beer in AZ. Pours deep hazy gold. Nose is tropical fruit. Tastes of big hops of citrus and pine, light malt, and resin. Overall a hoppy but not overalls bitter pale ale. Quite nice.

Copper pour with thick foamy head. Amazing aroma of hops & citrus. Flavors of hops, citrus pith, and slight malt combine for a easy hop-tastic mouthfeel that is not over-the-top at all. Balance of malt and hops leave a nice bitter finish. Delicious, refreshing, easy drinking pale (borderline IPA) that is great for every day.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
A vigorous pour from the growler produces a light tan colored head. The beer is a nice copper color that shows a brilliantly clear, golden / pale-honey color when held up to the light. The aroma is nicely hoppy with notes of citrusy pine (spruce perhaps), lots of guava notes, a big lychee presence, and big ripe tangelo zest like notes. There is perhaps a hint of malt character noticeable here, maybe a bit of straw like character (much of this might be from the hops though), and if you really aggressively dig for it, a cracker like pale malt character starts to come out.
Lots of candied citrus zest flavors up front are joined by ample tropical fruit flavors (lychee, guava, and some kumquat zest notes). These are balanced by a biting, but clean bitterness, some smooth pine like notes, and a big peppery note that is herbal leaning. The body has a fair amount of fullness to it for a beer of this strength; actually more so it is a bit fuller than the Anniversary Single Pale Ale I had the other night; actually this beer is quite quaffable and has just the right amount of body to carry the chewy, floral, fruity hop character. The malt plays a supporting role for sure here, it is mostly a texture here, but there is just a hint of hay like grain, perhaps a touch of pale malt sweetness, and a light pale cracker like note that is almost just a suggestion.
Another really nice hoppy beer and Pale Ale from Fate Brewing. I might even like this a touch more than the Anniversary Single Pale Ale. The hop character is just so dense and expressive, and I really like the ample fruit focus, but that the beer still has just enough biting hop character to it to keep things from being cloying. Maybe it was a long day, but damn this beer is hitting the spot in a big way right now; one of the more memorable pale ales that I have ever had.

Draft. Nice copper-gold color with a thin white head. Pleasant sweet aroma like citrus fruit. Flavor starts sweet and then finishes with a lingering, resinous bitterness. Easy drinking.

3.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at the brewery. Polished dark gold with low head and minimal lacing. Herbal hop and low alcohol aroma. Flavor is somewhat citrusy and herbal with an alcohol finish. Toasty malt comes through at the mid-palate and finish. A decent beer for a small brewpub. The anniversary single pale is quite a bit more interesting, however.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
32oz growler thanks to Ibrew2or3. Pours a chill hazed reddish amber. Thick, yellow head. Delicate lacing. Nose is rustic fresh malt, gristy. Taste is fairly nutty, lots of bitter Brazil nut, pretty raw/husky. Heavy lemon acid. Not much aroma hops going on. Body is lemony with some decent hoppiness, but it doesn’t quite punch like a hop bomb or quench like an APA.
