What you expect from a cream ale. On draft at the brewery. Pale straw color with minimal head. Aroma, corn, grass, light herbal pepper, and grass. Taste is a bit macro like but still maintains some flavor to go withthe drinkability.

Solid cream ale -- quite good for the style. Hoppier than I expected. More flavorful than the ABV would suggest. A nice lunch time beer.

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2015 Draft at brewery, good flagship, very toasty, some corn, clean and high drinkability, good for the masses

3fourths (8481) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 7, 2015
UPDATED: JAN 8, 2015 Clear pale straw body with a short white head. Grassy / peppery noble hop aroma, bready and toasty pale malt aroma that turns somewhat papery with warmth. Medium-light body, surprisingly bitter with a peppery and grassy finish, lightly sweet, somewhat grainy and twangy but nicely clean fermentation. Good carbonation froth and carbonic acid to wash away sugar, making it crisp and smacking and quenching. Not very expressive other than the bitterness but the toasty / cracker-y malt is nice enough. Better than you would expect for a semi-lager made with corn. Good combination of toasty malt and peppery hop bitterness, just expressive enough and well-balanced.

Tap. The look is clear, a white head, light straw colored. The smell is corn, malt, grain, floral, and ok. The taste is the same with bread dough.

On tap: The aroma is very light and consists of some faint grain with a hint of grass. Itís a dull white gold with a one finger head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. There is a good amount of thin webbing on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a hint of grain. The finish has very light grass with a hint of vanilla lemon. Itís light bodied with light-moderate carbonation. Overall, a very light summer thirst quencher...nothing exciting, but nothing offensive.

Pint on tap at the brewery. Clear yellow beer, no adhesion, small light head<---perfect for the style. What a light creamy taste, slighly pleasantly bitter, but balanced. It tastes lighter than 5.4%. Well done cream ale, this one is off the charts for the style, and you know what? It gets mad points.

On tap at Fate. It pours with a crystal clear gold body that supports a nice bright white head. The aroma offers up spicy hops, a faint chili pepper note, some grainy malts and a nice sweet corn sensation. The taste is similar where there is an echo of the Hatch Chile Cream Ale with some faint peppery chili in there as well as grainy malts, a dash of biscuit and a pleasing hop forward spicy hoppiness. This has a load of flavor and plenty of meat for a little session beer.

Arrives from the tap with a frothy, pale, just off-white colored head. The beer is a pale gold color that is brilliantly clear. The aroma has a light grainy quality to it, with perhaps a touch of a corn-like note, a bit of sweet, sun-toasted grain, still on the stalk type character, a bit of hay, and maybe just a hint of lemon-herbal hop character to it.

The beer has a light sweetness to it up front, but has a dry middle that has a straw like character, some pale cracker like grain, and that thin, beery like flavor of macro lager, albeit a chewy version, and with a soft accentuating fruitiness that hints at pear. There is a light herbal note here from the hops and the bitterness is light, but still noticeable. The body is quite light and definitely quaffable; it does have more texture than your typical macro lager / cream ale though.

This beer is exactly what it is trying to be, stylistically you canít argue with what is in the glass. This is a beer for macro-beer lovers, that have not discovered characterful beers yet, as such, it is a bit boring and bland for myself. I canít help but think that Fate has no need to brew a beer like this, there has got to be enough beer-oriented folks out there that business would not be hurting if they dropped this. Ferment this with a Dupont derived Saison yeast and you would have a killer beer ;)
