3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampled at GABF2013. Pours an orangish amber color with a white head. Aroma of citrus, orange peel, some pine notes, lots of brown sugar and carmel. Flavor is quite sweet and malt foward, with lots of caramel, sugar, and brown sugar notes. Some mild grapefruit and citrus peel bitterness. Boozy, way too sweet, thin bodied. Finishes with some generic hoppy bitterness.

Aroma came at me with nice pine and grass hops. Taste is a bit sweet with a huge soapy presence that i cant get past. Pretty good but very soapy hops.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
32oz growler pours a translucent, dark orange with some lacing, clump, white head. Nose is very pithy citrus, grapefruit and orange, pine, soap, honey, malt, some kumquat. Flavor is mostly bitter, strong grapefruit, like biting through the rind of an orange, a little blood orange, kumquat, pine, honey, a little candy. Full bodied, sticky finish. A good beer, but very much in the vein of all DIPAs. Nothing really stick out, but still well made.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap. Poured clear copper color with an average fizzy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy citrus and resin aroma. Medium to abundant body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate to heavy complex bitter flavor with a moderate to heavy complex bitter finish of medium to long duration. This is a standout beer.

Pours a brilliant gold with a fluffy white head that leaves plenty of lacing in my pint glass. Aroma has big citrus, and floral notes. Flavor is much the same. Huge citrus punch, with a slight piney finish that’s not super resiny.
Great hop character, light mouthfeel, and a perfect balance between super dried out west coast, and the cloyingly sweet IIPA’s we see in the midwest. This beer is also dangerously drinkable. If I hadn’t read previous reviews, I wouldn’t have guessed it was 8.5%. With this being my first beer from Fate, I’m psyched to see what’s coming next!
