A fine-looking gold ale. Nose gives not simply the unmistakable whiff of heat, but distinctly of slight smoke, along with just a tad bit of greenness. Enticing, but the palate is even better, the cream ale serving as the perfect canvas and calming agent for the hatch chiles. Heat is perfectly measured. Bubbles keep things light, again proving a perfect match for the warmth. Overall, just a fine, fine brew.

Light yellow pour with small white head. Aroma of pale malts and chilis. Taste of pale malts, grassy hops and slight chili heat. Nice and crisp and refreshing, nicely carbonated, simple beer that really works, nicely balanced. Dry peppery finish.

Draft in a sampler at the brewpub. Pours a clear, pale gold with a small white head. There’s a huge hatch chile character in this, with pale malts, grass, straw, and some faint sweetness. But the chiles give it a vegetal character, kind of earthy, and not overly spicy. It strangely balances the beer. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a dry, vegetal, spicy mouthfeel. Pretty good for a cream ale.

Draft sample. Clear, pale yellow with bubbly carbonation and a white head. Light aroma with a hint of the chilis, earthy grass and not much else. Flavor is nice with the chilis being dominant. Nice twist in a somewhat obscure style.

On tap @ Fate! Oh, the nose! This one is like sticking your sniffer in a field full of freshly roasted chili! A lot of hatch minus the heat, both in flavor and aroma. Bite into a mild green pepper, crisp and crunchy. Some char, blackening, and smoke. A little milky, a little silky, a little smooth. Never had a cream ale that made me crave a second...until now!

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2013 Poured up at Flanny’s Arizona on Tap Festival with a crystal clear gold body that supports a tall nearly bright white head. The mild aroma offers up sweet sugary malts and then just a faint chili note. The taste is straight up bright, light, crisp, fresh chili pepper meat and initially only a moderate degree of chili pepper heat. The heat grows to midway and then evens out into the finish where faint malt sweetness and a creamed corn sensation struggle to be heard over the chili. This has delicious forward chili pepper goodness where there’s enough heat to deepen the experience but not burn everything it touches. If you’re interested in fresh chili pepper presented with little beer in the way then this is for you. Fun beer.

Had at Flannys Annv party. Aroma was full of fresh roasted green chiles. Body was light so it went down easy. Chilies spiciness was a little too much to probably drink a full pint but in a taster it was great.

This was a much improved version of the Fate Cream Ale standard. Chiles came out strong in the aroma, and I’m a sucker for well balanced great tasting chile beer - a difficult taste to juggle. Everything about this beer was well crated and I would claim this is an exceptional example of a very good beer brought up to near greatness. Not too hot or overwhelming, but smooth and comfortable to sink into the heat of the Hatch chiles. Well done Fate.

Pours clear, bright golden with a white head. Aroma is fantastic chilis! Taste has some sweetness that is matched nicely with the heat from the chili. Thin bodied and dry. Just a fantastic beer!

Clear bright gold pour, small white head. The nose is heavy on the chile heat, taste is toned down a little. Not a lot of cream ale, more of a pale. But pretty tasty.
