When Fate tapped the Belgian saison, I was excited to try it. I heard good things and words like "sweet" and "bubblegum" come to mind when I heard ratings of this brew. I stopped in one night, and grabbed a sample. It has a nice, rich aroma and a well balanced slightly carbonated mouthfeel. It was a good beer, and one that I would easily order again. The sweetness is tamed by the yeast, but it has a nice bittersweet finish. Another good offering from Fate Brewing Company.

Growler pours clear deep gold with a thin off white head. The aroma offers up Belgian spicy yeast, apricot and then some orange citrus as well as some floral notes. The taste is similar with crisp fresh notes aided by a pleasing degree of hop bitterness. Thereís a mix of coriander and clove like spiciness and light colored fruity esters. Tasty session beer.

Lightly cloudy gold color poured from a growler. Nice whitish head. Aroma of yeast, light funk, pepper, banana, coriander, anise, orange peel. A lot of the same flavors come through. Quite spicy with a really good hint of some yeast and a bit of tartness. Its nice.

UPDATED: JUL 13, 2013 From a growler. Pours a light, slightly hazy straw color. Aroma of pungent star anise, coriander and some fruity esters. A bit of sweet banana with a slightly spicy, peppery dry finish. After trying Fateís Table Saison, I need to revisit this brew.

On draught at Fate. Pours a hazy-orange golden color with a trim white head. Aroma has lots of banana and coriander, very much like a hefeweizen. Also getting some peppercorn in there. Taste starts sweet but then moves to peppery, lightly bitter and drier. Body is more reminiscent of a hefeweizen. It probably could use some more dryness and a different spice mix to really get that saison feel. Good beer although not what Iíd normally think of as a saison.
