This beer is defined by its pronounced hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. It has a solid malt backbone that works with the citrusy American hops. The hop bouquet resonates like flavors of tangerine and ruby red grapefruit. The mouth feel is crisp and dry leaving a balance of bitterness and rich malt on the palate. It is golden honey in color.

On tap at the inaugural Front Range Ralley in Loveland, CO and growler. This stuff rocks. My new favorite IPA. Beats others in quality AND QUANTITY of aroma and flavor. I’m getting a load of citrus- more orange than grapefruit - as well as pine and floral notes. Very low onion. Explodes on the palate with carmel malt and then a plethora of hop flavors, almost overshadowing the substantial bitterness. A very slight astringent/mineral taste in the finish.

Can. Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, melon, orange, resin), lightly to moderately yeasty (dough), with a note of onion. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly astringent. Nice hop aroma for the most part, only somewhat brought down by oniony and doughy notes. I guess you can expect onion from Summit or Simcoe, but there’s just no way I can enjoy that odor in beer...why brewers use either variety is still a mystery. Good flavor balance and appearance help save this one.

12 oz can. Pours hazy dark golden orange with a medium creamy white head that goes to a thin film and laces the glass.

The aroma is lots of grapefruit and green piney hops with some bready crystal malt in the background.

The flavor is sweet crystal malts with lots of grapefruit and citrus followed by a fairly big resiny dank hop finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a very nice IPA with sweet fruity notes and nice hop bitterness.

On tap at the Flatz bar/lounge in the Renaissance Flatiron Hotel in Broomfield Colorado. A 14 ounce sleeve repoured into a large snifter. A yellow orange beer with generous off white head and pronounced orange citrus nose. In the mouth. . Pronounced and rich citrus orange tang with good hop bite. Some malt there for balance. Lingering malt and orange aftertaste. Quite nice. 3.7.

750 ml bottle purchased at Applejack in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. The pour is a hazed orange copper with a three inch light tan head which is quite lasting and falls with nice lace. The aroma is nutty, softly coffee, with grassy floral hop and an interesting fresh cocoa smell. Interesting nose, very engaging. The taste is grass, lemon citrus hop, followed close behind by the toast, roast and nut of the coffee, which carries the finish. All flavors are integrated, balanced and pleasantly subdued. The palate is medium bodied, cleansing carbonation and a dry softly bitter and roast finish. Nicely integrated flavors, well done.

Draft. Pours a medium, well retained, white head, with slight lacing, over a slightly hazy, amber (SRM 13) body.....nose is light toasted malts, with light biscuit, bread, light citrus peel, tangerine, floral note, hints of pine, resin, balance to the hops....taste is lightly sweet, floral honey notes, moderate citrus peel, tangerine, light pine, resin, finishing with a soft hop bitterness, balance to the hops.....mouth feel, medium body, slightly sticky. light alcohol, light astringency, carbonation slightly creamy. This is more east coast IPA. The multitude of hops have a gentle bitterness, with an apparent low alpha acid content. The layers of hop aroma and flavor emphasize the delicacy of the hops. It has too low bitterness to be an American IPA. If you want a complex but light on bitterness IPA, this one’s for you. BJCP 7/3/14/4/7
