COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It is an old English tradition to brew a heavier beer for the Winter months. These beers are usually associated with the holiday season. This tradition has been adopted by many small brewers in this country, and has turned into something of a required offering for the holidays. Some versions of Holiday Ales have added spice to create new flavors from the beer. Others brew stronger beers with more generous additions of hops to enhance flavor and bitterness. FBC Holiday Strong Ale falls into the second category. The alcohol content of FBC Holiday Strong Ale is 7.2% by weight. The higher alcohol content has a warming effect, therefore earning the label "Winter Warmers." We use a different featured hop every year. Faultline Brewing Company serves it's Holiday Strong Ale during the chilly Winter months starting the week of Thanksgiving.

On cask at the brewery. Light brown -reddish pour. Aroma is sweet english caramel malt, winter warmer, and some hops. Flavor is the same, nice balance.

Smooth fruity taste. Not as fizzy as some American beers, much nicer taste than most Winter Warmers.

I liked this much better than the regular Holiday Strong Ale. It seemed that there were many more complexities. Aroma was sweet caramel malt. Flavor was caramel, butterscotch, and even a little coffee in there. I’m not sure if it tasted better from the cask-conditioning, or if it was simply the warmer temperature.

This was fairly mundane for a holiday ale. Lots and lots of caramel flavor and aroma. Fairly one-dimensional in flavor for a holiday ale. Body is quite thick and coats the mouth well. Plenty of alcohol certainly has a warming effect. Decent.
