Bottle from Sprout’s: Poured a light brownish mahogany color while a snap, crackle, and pop foam head slowly began to shrink. Aroma is mild but does bring about a big whiff of alcohol and sweet caramelized malts. The yeast used is too faint to notice with my nose. The flavor of the beer is a goopy syrupy malt beverage that has some fizzy carbonation in the palate, but with high alcohol and certainly a better tasting malt liquor compared to the stuff the U.S. classifies as malt liquor. Sweet corn cereal aftertaste left behind in the finish and when I lick my lips.

Pailhead (6272) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - DEC 25, 2015
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy brown sugar, caramel, and faint grains. It pours a dark orangish-brown with a good amount of chunky sediment floating around. It has a one finger off-white head that fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. The flavor starts with moderate brown sugar and caramel. The finish has some light raisin and graininess, but the flavor is all about brown sugar and caramel. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation.

McWorta (1289) - LUXEMBOURG - DEC 9, 2015
Opalescent deep brown colour with a small light tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, toasted bread and sherry with hints of caramelised apricots with a light subtle floral edge to it develop. Softly carbonated and smoothly textured offering a medium-full body. Fruity-malty sweet with a good floral hop profile keeping the beer well balanced. Lasting finish.

Pours a beautiful amber-mohagony color, with a very froth medium sized head, still coating the glass with thick lacing after collapsing. Smells of wood bark, wrapped up by a flowery quality and marzipan, supported by a note of toffee. Bread defined malts blend harmonious into the profound wood bark quality, with a syrupy sweet note on top, creating a very fulfilling nose. Drinks dangerously easy, with a soft, medium carbonation, while producing enough body to hide the alcohol perfectly, instead the beer produces a pleasant warmth after the swallow. Taste mirrors the nose, by producing an intriguing mixture between earthy malts and luscious toffee, enhanced by a pleasant wooden note. The beers sweetness turns stronger by evoking molasses, balanced by walnut nutshells covered in the earthy taste foundation. Finishes with a soft carbonation, molasses and a soft aqueous note, while the beers earthiness mellows the overall sweetness. Very rustic, versatile beer, still including the classic Doppelbock sweetness, completed by a very smooth, soft mouthfeel.
