One thing is clear: Faust Kräusen is unfiltered. The character of this strong golden special beer is mild, fresh, full-bodied and flowery malt, hops flower with fine and light honey fragrance.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines and drunk at home. Gold, slight haze, lasting thick white head. Decent lager aroma. Some good lemon on the aroma. Actually this is rather likeable. Some decent pale malts. Yes a lemony, nicely carbonated beer. I liked it.

Golden opalescent with a fluffy white head and good lacings. Aromas of lightly toasted malts, floral hops and flower honey develop. Soft carbonation with a light slick texture and a slender body. Good balance between malty honey sweetness and floral hoppy bitterness. Short to medium lasting finish on the palate. Nice!

500ml flip-top bottle opened with loud “pop” bought at Great Food Hall in Pacific Place, Admiralty.

Cloudy hazy straw golden honey colour with a thin trace of dirt-like yeast sediments; Explosive three finger head and crumpety white foam which last for two minutes; Excellent sticky lacing and quite fizzy carbonation; Fragrant sweet aroma of bready malt, with strong floral, strong honey, sugar cane, spices, bread, yeast, faint lemon and light grass; Close to medium sweet taste of full malt, with floral, honey, strong molasses, thick bread, yeast, moderate lemon, light bitter hops and light grass; Mid to light body. Slick palate; Mouth feel is full maltyness in a solid body and fairly thick background. Full glory of floral, honey and molasses permeates. Lightly spiced, bready and quite yeasty. Light lemon to round. Very nice!... Hoppiness is strong floral, strong honey, spices, faint lemon and light grass in nose and taste; Bitterness is moderately light for an abrupt, low astringent sweet malty finish; Quite dry after taste. Nice sweet and quite easy to mouth.

Comments: This is a very solid Zwickel / Kellerbier with good looks, strong maltyness, expressive flowal and honey characters. More like an unfiltered version of Faust’s Helles. Easily enjoyable!

Maker: Brauhaus Faust zu Miltenberg, Miltenberg, Germany *** Beer: Faust Kräusen Naturtrüb (bottled, unfiltered, 500ml) *** Style: Landbier/Zwicklbier *** ALC.VOL.: 5.5% *** Colour: Hazy golden yellow; big, fluffy head. *** Nose: Mild orange zest, barley, straw. *** Texture: Medium body, hardly watery at all. Rather mild carbonation. *** Taste: Slightly sweetish at the start: hay, yeast, white bread, whiff of lemon. A bit more bitter towards the middle, with barley, straw and hops. Moderately bitter finish: hoppy, some bread. More of the same in the medium-long aftertaste. *** Impressions: Very good, highly quaffable and typical Zwicklbier type brew. Some nice bitterness towards the end, some malt notes for balance.

Bought from a Berlin supermarket in a card-stock six-pack. Orange-amber color, reasonable foam. Nose of orange zest, caramel, wet grain, alcohol, some sherry-like oxidation (still three months from best-by date). The beer is fairly sweet and lacking in bite, a bit of a zesty-dusty edge from the yeast. Flabby, let’s say. It’s drinkable enough. It has character. But a little more bitterness here would do wonders I think.

Eigentlich ganz ok, wenn auch recht vorausschaubar. Dabei leicht im Getreide, ein paar Kräuter, etwas Malz und Karamell. Absolut trinkbar, mild, vollkommen ok ohne groß zu punkten.

Bottle from IxI Getränkemarkt in Frankfurt. The beer has got a hazy golden-strawy colour with an airy head and medium body. Aroma of hops and straw. Taste of hops, grains, dust, basement, white bread and white. Hints of flowers, herbs and fruits. Solid in its style, yet nothing extraordinary good.

Many thanks for this Swing-top bottle to kevnic2008. Jasne zlociste po dolaniu wymieszanych drozdzy robi sie jasno brazowe. Piana srednia ale opadajaca szybko. Smak fajny piekarniczy nieco, pszenny, glownie skorke chleba wyczulem. Delikatne bez gazu, goryczka uboga.
