Golden color, small disappearing head. Malty, light corny and light fruity aroma, hop notes. Malty, fruity flavor with hints of aroma hop. All in all a bit flat.

Bottle from Drinks World, Harborne. Pours golden, with a fluffily laced head. First off, this is a very tasty lager - rich malty goodness, with enough lagering hops to create freshness and fullness. A bit more oomph on the finish would have been lovely, but it’s still nice. Not much of a Festbier though, as far as I can see.

Lager looks with a chunky white collar. Sweetcorn, vague mown grass, a little lemon curd in the nose. Really decent, clean-cut, honeyed pine and grass flavour with green herb hints: way more hop character than expected from a winter festbier. Thick and persistent. Well-hopped, conditioned, satisfying lager.

My Third Faust brew of the afternoon/evening and the it affirmed the quality of the ’Water’ that the brewery has. There is a mouth feel that is typical to all three brews I tried today(14/12/11) in North Bar, Leeds. You won’t find a better brewery than one that sits on a great water source. For a Fest beer it was a great way to get into a German festive feel.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 DarkElf (2961) - La Jolla, California, USA - AUG 12, 2008
15-May-08 (500-ml swing-top bottle, Best by 03-Jul-08: Free sample bottle for stewarding the 2008 World Beer Cup in San Diego, CA) This festbier pours a clear, golden-yellow color and is topped by a large, white, foamy head. The moderately sweet malt flavor is grainy and lighter, somewhere between a premium lager and a true Märzen. Hops flavor is very light, and bitterness is mild. As with the flavor, the nose is mostly grainy malts, lightly sweet and low in hops. Medium in body, soft and light in carbonation. Decent.
