3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 D (577) - Gdynia, - AUG 6, 2005
UPDATED: SEP 13, 2005 This is a hefeweizen style beer, brewed in Germany by Herrnbau Gmbh for Polish Jurand brewery who distribute the beer in Poland. It is a nice, Franziskaner-like beer, with a similar harsh flavour. The head is less persistent than in other hefeweizens, the smell is alright. Overall, a fine beer - not the best of the type but definitely satisfying.

[9/23/11] Mahleket Hanikot Shotrim ’11 tour. Bottle in the van on the way from Malmo to Stockholm. Cloudy yellow-ish golden with a white head. Fruity aroma with banana, a bit of citrus and a bit of bubblegum. Sweetish-sourish flavor of wheat, fruit esters and a drier finish with a bit of yeasty spiciness. Rather light-bodied and very carbonated. OK.

Grainy, husky smell. Great head, a little frothy, but also fairly dense. Dirty darker gold. Smells like a wheat beer. Taste is a little bracingly sour, with a wild swing to sweetness. Clingy in the mouth. Drinkable for sure, but not a giant killer in the hefe world. Would drink again by score (barely), but not when so many others are available...

Bottled. Cloudy golden. Fruity banana aroma. Mid-sweet with rounded spritzy mouthfeel and medium body. Some pear marmelade. Low bitterness. Drinkable, but not with a lot of character.

Slightly cloudy orange, large frothy head. Wheaty aroma, some citrus. Lively carbonatiopn, crisp palate. Fairly simple but tasty hefeweizen taste. Pleasant aromatic hops in the finish, and some toffee hints too - but not sticky or too sweet. Covers 6% well. Nice.

Bottle, 6%. OK banana aroma. Clody dark grey orange colour. Big stable white head. The flavour has OK banana, hint of clove. Slightly rough bitterness, perhaps from the extra alcohol. Baking yeast aftertaste. Could have been a mediocre German. (Haha, turns out it IS German).
