Originally rated March 2005. This Danish bock pours a deep brown colour, like cola, with some red highlights. The head is small, but creamy and bubbly, with some light lacing. The nose is mostly made of roasted malts and with some mild sweetness. The taste is quite good, slighty sweet, but mostly smoky. Dry finish. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. Does not give you that warming effect, and it’s a 7.7% ABV. Alcohol very well hidden. Not an all-over awesome brew, but still very nice, from time to time.

The Beer Store ($3ish): Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is pretty straightforward bock. Got the dark fruits and a good amount of sugar and malt. Tastes somewhat sweet. The high alcohol is fortunately well covered (unlike in some other cheap bocks). Drinkable and easily chuggable. This is by no means a bad beer.

500ml can pours a deep amber color with a big off-white head that retains quite well and settles to some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel malts and alcohol. Taste is caramel malty sweet with some alcohol and very little hop bitterness in the finish. A decent bock style brew, but there are many better ones out there.

Can. Reddish brown clear apperance, off-white spongy small head, faint fruity aroma, fruity flavored, sweetish taste, abrupt finish. Passable.

500ml can. Strong alcohol and caramel aroma. Taste is much the same, booze and sweetness. Started out kind of bad but seemed to get better, both likely as a result of the high alcohol content.

Can [500ml]. This has been in the fridge for a little while now, I haven’t exactly been looking forward to opening it and rating it. Well, here goes: Pours a very deep ruby-amber with an average size lasting frothy tan head -- looks pretty good at least. Aroma, unfortunately, is sugary sweet but there’s also some toasted malt, dark fruit (raisins and more) and nuts to make it not awful. Flavour of sweet malt, quite a bit of alcohol, brown sugar, raisins and nuts. Dry alcoholic finish. Average bodied. Too sweet and boozy to have again but better then expected.

Koelschtrinker (7012) - Köln (Cologne), North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - MAY 25, 2011
12/11/11/12/11/12

Cannette 500 ml. 7%. Couleur brune foncée, rougeâtre, mousse beige onctueuse. Arômes de baie rouge, caramel et alcool. Goût d’alcool, fruits et malt. Finale légèrement amère. Bonne

500 ml can. It pours an almost blackish color with a foamy white head. It looks very sterile. The nose is fruity and malty. It tastes like a glorified malt liquor meets doppelbock, not horrible, but not good.
